Said everyone, ever. Just because you don't have a taste for rap or pop being the mainstream, doesn't mean there isn't rock and metal being made today, let alone good rock and metal. Stop romanticizing the past. It's insulting to those trying to start a band, let alone, be noticed enough to make a living off their music, only for people like you to claim there's no quality music anymore, just because you're wearing rose-tinted glasses. It's the crabs in a barrel effect, which is one of the reasons why rock and metal became obscure, by today's standards. Rock and metal culture is too elitist, too demanding, and too demeaning for its own good. It's comparable to a cult. Granted, a cool cult. But a cult, nonetheless. I used to think like you, until I realized that mainstream does not automatically equate to quality or vice versa, nor genre, nor time. Most rock and metal bands were mainstream at one point, most genres have their good and bad, and time doesn't stop music from being made. I'm sorry for ranting, but I'm tired of hearing this nostalgic bullshit.
