Metallica meant so much to me and just about every misfit I knew in the late 80s in Dallas. Punks, metal heads, jocks, ropers, everybody loved Metallica. We were at that party age when $5.98 and And Justice For All came out, and anytime I hear those albums now I’m transported to those days. It’s so vivid and strong that it’s painful, like looking at old pictures. I can’t really listen to early Metallica anymore for that reason, but I have those albums memorized, I can practically replay them in my mind. I didn’t like the black album and haven’t listened to anything they’ve put out since, but you’ve convinced me to give some of those records a try.
