You're right. Nobody SHOULD have to live like the characters depicted. But you've missed the point she so eloquently made at the very end. She chose that life and she knows it. I will be 37 years old, living in Hungary. I know what it's like to live like this, I know what it's like to be down in the dust. For decades, we just survived the days. My mother always fought for me. Lately, our life is starting to get easier. As a retiree, I can sometimes help her financially, but I don't have money from work... Those who live in abundance and comfort have no idea what it's like to be trapped in poverty and dependencies. Thank you, Mom, for all the struggles. I have learned a lot from you!

When you go from underground thrash band, to mega popular metal band and accrue a hardcore fanbase who always want that heavy, thrash, angry sound. But the band grew up, and they stopped drinking and taking drugs and weren’t the same people. Its hard for fans who have been there from the start to accept the directional change, however, some of their best work came after 95 even if it was a departure in sound. I’m gery glad they changed direction and carried on making fantastic music, instead of being another aging band who tried to replicste their youthful sound and lost touch and burnt out. All the best bands evolve, its just metallica are unique in their popularity and influence over the thrash scene.

On a long and lonesome highway East of Omaha You can listen to the engines moanin' Out this one-note song You'd think about the woman Or the girl you knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wanderin' The way they always do When you're ridin' 16 hours There's nothin' much to do And you don't feel much like ridin' You just wish the trip was through Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage There I go playin' the star again There I go, turn the page So you walk into this restaurant All strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you As you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you But you just want to explode Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk Other times you can All the same old clichés Is it woman, is it man? And you always seem outnumbered You don't dare make a stand Make your stand Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go playin' the star again There I go, turn the page Oh-oh, out there in the spotlight You're a million miles away Every ounce of energy You try and give away As the sweat pours out your body Like the music that you play, yeah Later in the evenin' As you lie awake in bed With the echoes of the amplifiers Ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette Rememberin' what she said What she said Yeah, and here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go playin' the star again There I go, turn the page And there I go Turn that page There I go, yeah, yeah There I go, yeah, yeah Here I go, yeah Here I go, yeah There I go There I go And I'm gone

nah, theyve been spent for some time now, this song is from their 1998 homage album Garage inc, so they didnt write any of it, as much as I love this version the original is much better and has meaning, judging by the vid they didnt even get the meaning of the song. They should have stayed in the 80s to mid 90s.

Josh Gore...My favorite reply to those who say Metallica sold out...yes they did! They sold out every show, every seat, every time! Captured my ears, my heart, my metal heart since first hearing Fade To Black way back in 1987!!! Yes I'm that old! Seen them 3 times, Tallahassee, FL, Orlando, FL and Jacksonville, FL. I cant ever watch the whole video... as a mom it breaks my heart. The harsh part of this video is the child, not what the mom goes through, I think. Love Metallica, their videos tend to deliver reality. This one is dark... too real as well.

Oh I completely agree with you. Is just that as a mom, I think of my son before I think of myself. In the work I do, I know the kind of things that women in that kind of world have to go through. I respect them very much, by choice or not, is not an easy world, especially when you do it by force, as last resource, and to support a family. Still, I cant never watch the video whole.

I used to listen to this song on the drives to see my hookup the next city over, I always loved being on the road even when the purpose was less than comforting. Reminds me of being 15-16 and riding my dirt bike to my friends house listening to Metallica and black dahlia murder. Both of those days are long gone but every time I hit the end of this song it's like a flash back of 15-20 and every single moment I was on the road I never felt alone but never without purpose, even without a destination in mind I knew exactly what I was doing and where I was going. Miss that feeling.

On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha You can listen to the engines moanin' out his one old song Think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wanderin', the way they always do When you're ridin' sixteen hours and there's nothin' much to do And you don't feel much like ridin', you wish the trip was through Here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page So you walk into this restaurant, all strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shakin' off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode (yeah, oh) Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can All the same old cliché's, "is it woman, or is it man" And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make your stand Make your stand Ah, here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page Whoa, hey Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away Every ounce of energy, you try and give away As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play Later in the evenin', as you lie awake in bed With the echoes of the amplifiers, ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said What she said Oh, here I am, on the road again, here I am, up on that stage Here I go, playin' star again, there I go, turn the page Here I go, turn that page Here I go, there I go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I'm a rock and roll god Here I go Here I go Here I go, oh whoa Here I go

"Turn The Page" (originally by Bob Seger) On a long and lonesome highway east of Omaha You can listen to the engines moanin' out its one note song You can think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do When you riding sixteen hours there's nothing much to do And you don't feel much like ridin', you just wish the trip was through Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again There I go, turn the page So you walk into this restaurant, all strung-out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shaking off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode And most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can All the same old clichés, "Is it woman? Is it man?" And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand Make your stand Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again There I go, turn the page Out there in the spotlight you're a million miles away Every ounce of energy you try to give away As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play Later in the evening, as you lie awake in bed With the echoes of the amplifiers ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said What she said Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go, playin' star again There I go, turn the page There I go, turn that page There I go, yeah There I go, yeah There I go, yeah Here I go, yeah There I go There I go And I'm gone

I always thought he sang "and I don't feel much like lighting." As in a joint. A haunting and searing rendition.

This song hits hard everytime i hear it. Beautiful music with a dark background, but speaking out on important topics is what metal is about for me. Heavy stuff

Remember watching this video as a kid, and becoming aware of the lives women like this lead…Really sad. The director was genius pairing this narrative with the song.
