Awsome video, well timed and edited. A nice pair of long barbecue tongs work well for crucible handling, no plastic of course. I'd recommend setting out some firebrick or a cinder block to set the crucible on after removing it from the furnace. From there you can better reorient the tongs for a safer and more accurate pour. I dig your enthusiasm and style, keep it up!

@MetallurgyData3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I’d have a look at forging. You should be able to get up to temperature quite easy with gas or charcoal. To melt steel it is much trickier than aluminium. You could also consider welding but the outlay of the kit would be reasonably expensive

Can I melt stainless steel?
@puntergaming2455Ай бұрын
Well, I think yes but you will face a lot of difficulties cause it requires a lot of temperature and the minimum temperature to melt steel is 1000°c 😬, which is a lot However if you are dedicated then I suggest use good material and strong compounds to make the furnace and to provide temprature use coal to apply temprature from below and use a blow torch ( idk what is it's name ) from above you will get proper results

Put a thin plastic liner like a garbage bag or grocery bag around the pot so the plaster doesn't stick to it.

What is you melt rock? Does it become metal too or just became back to a rock ? Or depends what type of rock?
@MetallurgyData3 жыл бұрын
Hi, my melt stock is just scrap aluminium. I’m not sure about the process to melt rock/ore but you will end up with molten metal and a slag, which will contain the majority of the rock/impurities. Hope that helps
