I keep seeing this game compared to FE: 3H and that makes me so excited. The only reservation I have for this game is if I should just wait to play the "True" version a couple years on.

I remember when Atlus added sprites of the concept art of the redhead Elf in Etrian Odyssey Nexus... this game sure took it's time, more than 6 years. I hope it will deliver, it's looking great.

I hope this is a game for me haha, I always had a hard time with the persona/SMT side for many reasons and the main one being I am not a fan modern settings at all. Add in my disdain for choices/multiple endings, monster catching, and all of Atlus's nonsense with how they go about squeezing money out of people. But this game looks like it might finally be the game for me to see what people love about these people series so much. From the bit of the persona games I did play before I lost interest, I could always tell they put tremendous work into their characters which has always caught my eye every time a new game releases of theirs. Let's just hope the metaphor isn't fool me once shame on you and fool me twice shame on me for when they release the same game in a year with minor gameplay improvements and about an hour of extra cutscenes for 60-70 bucks!

Genuine question but how is Persona tame? 3 literally starts with a high school student putting a gun to their head and was about to fire. 5 has the first arc about a high school teacher abusing both male and female players for his team and there is so much wrong with it in addition to their age gaps. No way is persona tame on any level.

Never said it was "tame" but maybe you misheard me say "teen-friendly?" Like sure, in Persona there's themes of death and abuse, but ReFantazio is on another level, kicking things off with an on-screen murder of a disabled person, followed shortly thereafter by a racism-fueled lynching. I can't get into much of this due to NDA reasons, but suffice it to say, where Persona used death and abuse as themes at pivotal points in the game, ReFantazio practically uses wanton slaughter as stage dressing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Persona to a 13 or 14-year old teen. ReFantazio feels more like 17+

Yes, this option does give you a slightly different build at the start of the game, which can be further customized with each level-up. So there's a lot of flexibility in how you build the protagonist. That does not extend to party members though, which I think makes sense.
