I had heard about this game but wasn't planning on buying it but I saw the demo and downloaded it on a whim. And holy crap the game blew me away! The level of ambition and quality on display is stunning! After finishing the demo I immediately pre-ordered the collector's edition! Every single aspect of this game is of the highest quality! I really feel like this game is going to be considered an all-time great! It feels like it has elevated JRPG's to the next level! And I think the fantasy world within a fantasy world conceit really works! I can't stop thinking about this game and the 11th can't get here soon enough!

I am much the same. I don't consider myself much a player of Persona games despite enjoying playthroughs of them and owning a couple of the games myself, but the moment I downloaded Metaphor: Re-Fantazia I was hooked on its fantasy setting and the gameplay. It feels so polished to play and was very intrigued by the world to a degree I've not felt for any RPG in a very long time.

Probably the most generous demo I have ever played. I logged about 4 hrs into it and it was worth every minute. I pre ordered it and cant wait to continue where I left off. I would describe this as Persona with a Lunar Silver Story style of animation and art. It's more JRPG than Visual Novel. Exactly what I have been waiting for.

This looks Amazing the only thing i'm on the fence about is the timed deadline main quests, How generous are the timers? Not particularly keen to play via a guide to not put 90 hours in and get a bad ending.

If you played any persona game, not meeting the deadline just soft resets you. You keep some of your stuff and reset to the start of the mission.

The first deadline presented in the demo is 10 days (though you only get to play 3 of them in the demo) which should give you plenty of time. I'm assuming deadline dungeons would need about three days, though there will likely be some you can push through in less. Three days is just the best amount of time to set aside to guarantee it all goes well.

Time limits are very generous in Atlus games, it's 100%-ing the game that's the hard part (at least in a single playthrough). A second playthrough to finish the rest of the missed content takes less than 20 hours in Persona 5 if you fast forward through everything, and it's probably much faster in Metaphor now because you actually skip cutscenes instead of just fast forwarding through them.

@@CrystallineLore They also held onto the P3R DLC despise being completed before the game released then put it behind a bundle of trash no one wants just to charge more. And I'm not lying about the DLC being ready before the game released, the entire thing was leaked back then, then they rushed to announce it like 2 weeks after that while saying stuff like "We listened to fans after the game released, so we are adding the Answer as a DLC", acting as if they had started working on it after the game released. Thankfully no one was dumb enough to really believe that in just two weeks they saw the feedback, greenlight the DLC, prepared a full trailer for it, all while also already having a release date. So, sorry, but not sorry. Atlus brought this upon themselves.

It was not ready to roll out before Reload came out, and they only made it because there was fan demand for it. That being said, it's still shitty that they made it cost $35 in addition to the already pricey day 1 dlc.

I actually ended up pre ordering the game. I know there's this huge pushback against pre ordering games, but the demo came out for it and I played some of it and I was very impressed, to the point where I was confident in the final product. I haven't played every Persona game yet, I've only played some of Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload, but this seems like it takes the concept of Persona and spins it a bit in more of a fantasy direction, and I know there's more to it than that, which is why I'll be checking it out this week! There have been two performance patches on PC so far and I'm informed the 2nd one greatly improves the performance for most people (I still get better results out of Special K). So I wouldn't be surprised if they tighten up performance on consoles also.

I just wish you could change between turn based and action combat at will and weren't limited. I was hoping we had a choice to use action combat also for bigger monsters. They advertised it as a hybrid combat system and it ended up being super watered down.

I’m looking forward to both this game YS 10 and Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D remastered in November despite the censorship I’m still getting the game up until the last few years it was rare to get a A DQ game in the US I’m not risking Square Enix making some half as Excuse if the game doesn’t sell well to deny future Dragon Quest titles in the US they have been censoring DQ since DQ 8 the only real difference is the pronoun crap which I will ignore and the Trolls lips which I don’t care enough about before or after censorship I’m black by the way and I never cared about it the female warrior outfit change cannot be seen in the pixels all that well anyway and it’s the same art change from DQ8

I'm wary of jrpg writing - the premise from the start is ridiculous, with a country choosing a leader after a tourney? lol, great way to choose the most capable leader - find the strongest fighter, he'll surely know best about country wide development policies to implement and how to manage diplomacy. Are the members of the party the usual one note cardboard cutout tropes? Is the dialogue written well and does it give vital info or reiterate points we've heard a dozen times before (looking at you P5)? The rest seems like a well executed Persona spin, but if the writing is yet again as clunky and simplistic as 90% of jrpgs, I'm not touching this.
