"What does a stress fracture feel like " is at 8:14. "There are other things that feel like a stress fracture" is at 9:47 Thank you for all this helpful information. Very clearly explained. Some podcasters put in the information a table of topics.... or even put it in the video. I suggest that to help people. I'm coming to this wondering if I have anything remotely likely to be a stress fracture... is there anything about that in this video? Turns out, yes: at 8:14. But I only learned that at the end when you refer back to it, cause I missed it when I skipped through the video looking for it. Thanks

I've had a metatarsal stress fracture in the second metatarsal 3 times now. I think it's just the weakest spot in my body. 3 times in a boot, last time a year ago. I loved walking, hiking and swimming. Now I limit activity until I'm a few years in the clear, it's just not strong enough. I just twisted my ankle slightly too, so I'm on bed rest. So hopefully that heals soon. I'm not overweight, get sun, eat healthy, do all the physio. Hope my foot gets stronger, think driving might be a factor. No other weak spots. I don't dare to run or jump, rollerskate or ride a skateboard, not until I have a strong foot. Podiatrist and physio can't see anything wrong with gait etc... Everytime I overdo exercise I get some pain and know to take it easy. It's not what I want, it really takes years to get it strong, I'm in my 40's.

This is really good. i had no idea i had a stress fracture in my third metatarsal shaft until i had an xray for pain in my big toe. The rest of the toes were xray , and it showed new subtle periostal reaction to distal shaft. Odd nothing showed up in big toe where pain is, but no pain with stress fracture as already had mortons neuroma so this pain was masked maybe. Cant think how this happened but started walking up to 9 miles in Yorkshire in the spring and have a bit of osteoporosis in lower spine. usually do 4-5 miles so it was hard going and id had very little sleep on that trip. I contine to walk on it short distances, for now. as not symptomatic but i wear Sketchers which rock off the toes! Im 3 pounds overweight so will lose that. Seeing GP tomorrow.

@SportsInjuryPhysio Жыл бұрын
You may actually find that doing eccentric movements into the positions provide better lengthening than only static stretches. Eccentric contractions have been shown to be best at lengthening tissue over time. So doing active moves first, then add in eccentric component and then end with gentle static stretching. I would just be careful with doing al this twice a day as it is very easy to overstretch the groin and cause injuries like adductor tendonitis.

I had the top of my foot ran over directly in the middle. Had a bit of bruising and pain after it happened but that was it. It's now been 2 years since it has happened and now my big toe is very tender and hurts a lot, especially at night. It seems like it's stuck flexing upwards a little bit and i can't bend it at all. I've been doing a lot of research and I'm thinking it is checkrein deformity possibly. It seems to me that it's the big tendon on top of my foot that hurts, the one that runs into the big toe, because it's stuck bending my big toe upwards. I can't put any weight on it either it hurts like a mofo. The pain is right at the top, where the toenail is but sometimes my calf feels achey and some days my ankle will hurt a little as well, but mainly my big toe. Any ideas what it could be?

I can't really provide any useful advice if I don't know all the details of your situation - for instance, which tendon is the one causing trouble, what your rehab journey has been, how strong your foot is at this moment with different movement tests etc. A doctor is likely not the best person to consult about this - you may benefit more from consulting a physiotherapist who can assess it for you and then prescribe the correct exercises. Hi I recently completed an Ultra marathon but I was suffering pain to top of foot which got progressively more painful so with about 14k to go I stopped at the aid tent to get some medical help there was a doctor there who checked my foot and said there was a chance it could be a stress fracture. I told her that I was determined to finish as it was my first Ultra so she strapped me up with kt tape and sent me on my way advising me to seek further medical assistance if it got worse. So at the moment I am resting and icing but want to do a bit of walking so should I strap up again and what sort of shoes can I wear .

You need to get it properly assessed so you know what treatment is needed - walking on a stress fracture usually just prolongs or interferes with healing. It may also just be tendonitis in which case exercise is the correct thing to do.
