Ok, so I decided to give TikTok another chance when it comes to the quality of the historical education that is going on this platform. Let's see if it was a good idea...
If you want to check out my tiktok profile tiktok.com/@metatrony
TikTok, and its Chinese counterpart Douyin (Chinese: 抖音; pinyin: Dǒuyīn), is a short-form video hosting service owned by ByteDance. It hosts user-submitted videos, which can range in duration from 3 seconds to 10 minutes.
Since their launches, TikTok and Douyin have gained global popularity. In October 2020, TikTok surpassed 2 billion mobile downloads worldwide. Morning Consult named TikTok the third-fastest growing brand of 2020, after Zoom and Peacock. Cloudflare ranked TikTok the most popular website of 2021
Social media are interactive technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, interests, and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks. While challenges to the definition of social media arisedue to the variety of stand-alone and built-in social media services currently available, there are some common featuresThe term social in regard to media suggests that platforms are user-centric and enable communal activity. As such, social media can be viewed as online facilitators or enhancers of human networks-webs of individuals who enhance social connectivity.
Users usually access social media services through web-based apps on desktops or download services that offer social media functionality to their mobile devices (e.g. smartphones and tablets). As users engage with these electronic services, they create highly interactive platforms in which individuals, communities, and organizations can share, co-create, discuss, participate, and modify user-generated or self-curated content posted online. Additionally, social media are used to document memories, learn about and explore things, advertise oneself, and form friendships along with the growth of ideas from the creation of blogs, podcasts, videos, and gaming sites.[9] This changing relationship between humans and technology is the focus of the emerging field of technological self-studies.[10] Some of the most popular social media websites, with more than 100 million registered users, include Twitter, Facebook (and its associated Messenger), WeChat, ShareChat, Instagram, QZone, Weibo, VK, Tumblr, Baidu Tieba, and LinkedIn. Depending on interpretation, other popular platforms that are sometimes referred to as social media services include KZbin, QQ, Quora, Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal, LINE, Snapchat, Pinterest, Viber, Reddit, Discord, TikTok, Microsoft Teams, and more. Wikis are examples of collaborative content creation

I understand that sponsorship is important for you and that you will have had to read the sponsor's script. I would like to point out that a VPN does not improve your security or privacy, modern fingerprinting techniques make it irrelevant if you are on a vpn or not. The best that a VPN can provide is access to country specific web services and that is by no means guaranteed.

Yeah. Its a staircase. If you wanted to defend it, you'd pour boiling oil or animal fat down it, but if they're already in the castle, they're probably setting it on fire, so even if you can stay on the upper battlements, you're not going to want to for very long.

Stairs were highly defensive. But yeah... its not why they were built. Seems like they had a tower... needed stairs. The most logical route up is a spiral. Most being wood. Even churches could have a spiral. It's practical. Some castles do have clearly purpose built defensive spirals... but are the exception not the rule.

As a middle school teacher, I can tell you that the kids watch a lot of dance and makeup content. In class. When they are supposed to be learning academic content. Videos that encourage kids to do dumb stuff and then post the video are also an issue. Yes, we actually had a kid destroy the soap dispenser in the restroom and post it online due to an online dare. I live in VA, but my nephew in AL also had seen the original dare videos. Thankfully, he is smarter and pointed out that posting a video to the world was a good way to get caught. Also, he was confused as to WHY one would destroy a soap dispenser in the first place.

Funnily enough I once heard a different explanation for spiral staircases: Namely that a castle usually had a lord and knights underneath him and how he wouldn't want his daughter sleeping with any of his knights before marriage. Thus the Spiral staircase was designed so that two people couldn't meet on the stairs and that if a knight was trying to get to his lord's daughter they'd be spotted. Even the guide who told me this believed it was a Victorian myth and believed it was most likely the ergonomics of putting stairs in narrow towers.

Having done a fair bit of medieval combat the person going up the stairs has a reasonable chance of attacking the lower legs and even torso of the person higher up. The higher person doesn't necessarily have the advantage as if they overswing at the person below they run the risk of falling down the stairs. The person going up is less likely to fall. To be fair to the re-enactors, modern re-enactment weapons and armour are incredibly prone to rust. If you put a chainmail shirt on damp ground for as little as a few seconds, it will have a patina of rust which takes a lot of time and effort to remove. Same goes for steel swords etc. Most re-enactors spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing weapons after a show, especially if it's been raining or foggy. You can't cancel a show with hundreds of people in attendance because there's a light drizzle, despite all the extra work it will cause. I cringe every time I see someone drive or throw a sword into the ground. That sword has probably just been ruined

Chinese TikTok is called "douyin" and it's true that children are exposed to a very different kind of information. But it's not because of the app hireups, it's because of China heavily regulating the information that reaches not only children, but adults as well. (For example, recently all tv-shows and music bands that feature "feminine" male leads were removed from public platforms). The content for children goes under even more scrutiny. School children are not allowed to have phones on them in schools (they have watches with a feature of calling one or two parental phone number). And online gaming is strictly regulated: children under 18 can play games only for a couple of hours per week.

I have to admit that the story of the staircases made sense to me. Kinda like the access roads to castle were often placed in a way that your shield arm would face away from the castle. When it comes to chain mail there's pretty much no (war) weapon that can go "through" the rings. The question is whether the attack can spring the ring(s) open. I heard about the direction of the stairs and started to look for it. In all castles here I have seen it was really to as described - attacker's right hand would be blocked. The only medieval (very, very late medieval) staircase that went the opposite direction I walked on was in a church tower, not a castle. actually, the two different tick-tock‘s one in China and one in America is done on purpose. The one in America is not to weaken and make us look dumb and stupid so that China can manipulate us while the one in China is meant to educate children of all ages, a different art, science, literature, philosophy.

Yes, that is exactly what Winston and C-Milk were telling in their China Fact Chasers Show, these guys were living over decade in China. The version for the west is banned in China by Xi for the reasons you mentioned, to promote the worst degenerating content to the young people. The chinese version is totally different and it's not even called Tik Tok.

While the chinese version is way less degenerate they still have lots of silly, funny and "cute/sexy" content. But it is indeed waay less bad (besides the attention span thing)

@@epstone Not really worried because in about a year there will be a AI that can generate ticktok videos that are educational, fun and mostly accurate.

@@southcoastinventors6583 i believe so too. But which wont change anything though. People that want a key dangled in front of them will just become more addicted. 🤣

I think the other reason the staircase thing keeps coming back is because it sounds plausible and it makes logical sense. Its not true, but it sounds very close to true

I know that Australia exists. I have been there two times. Or have I been in Chile three times? As a German, I know definitely, that Bielefeld doesn’t exist. (Bielefeld conspiracy)
