METEORA (Greece): Episode 1 - Athens to Kalabaka Train

We booked our roundtrip tickets online at www.trainose.gr about a week before the trip.
Showing the e-tickets to the inspector once inside the coaches will suffice.
Direct train from Athens central station to Kalabaka station takes about 4 hrs.
There are snacks available for purchase in the train.

Athens is the only station i know on which platform starts with 7. Its also the only station in greece with no platform 1 and the only station to have a platform 7,8,9 or 10.

I have yet to post the rest of videos from this particular trip. But, yes, we did the sunset tour of Meteora and visited some monasteries that were open that day. Really amazing place. Have you been to Meteora?

Athens Railway Station is also known as the Larissa Station.

I´m thinking about this trip. Do you think this 1 day trip is worth it? what about the train journey itself? can you enjoy the view?

If you do a tour, do it at sunrise or sunset. The scenery is more spectacular at those times. The monasteries have very particular hours/days that they allow visitors so do some research before going. We hired a taxi to take us around so we can do the tour at our own pace. The train ride from Athens was kinda non-eventful. It was smooth but not much view to see. Stay at least 1 night. The Meteora is worth it.

Yes, there are toilets. Not in the most ideal of state. But will do if really needed. Bring some antibacterial wet wipes to clean the seat. And toilet paper. :)
