Methanol is a multi-purpose chemical that can be applicable to many uses such as automotive fuel, electric, fuel cells while being environmentally friendly.

When Methanol is produced with renewable sources it's very expensive and nowhere near being competitive to oil. It is economical when it is produced normally, but then it has almost the same CO2 emissions as oil and is cheaper.

@@cheekibreeki5603 So what?!? Methanol burns much cleaner than heavy oil - but so does diesel, for example, and so does natural gas. If methanol is produced from coal, for example, the environmental damage does not occur primarily on the ship - but rather in the upstream chain during extraction/production. The prerequisite for your green methanol is the massive expansion of the use of renewable energies. The direct use of green electricity is always the most efficient and environmentally friendly solution. Only then come all the other technologies that require the electricity to be converted (several times). You should not listen to lobbyists, but inform yourself about the facts. Regenerative energy is to be used in Morocco, Australia and Chile to produce "green" energy carriers such as hydrogen, eFuels or methanol. But first, these countries have to convert their energy supply to renewable electricity. This is by no means feasible in a few years, as some lobbyists proclaim.

People already go hungry and India. You're talking about taking food like corn and turning it into fuel. India's problem is that they're gods do not require them to be good people. So they throw garbage all over the place. This is quite true and a lot of cultures. America as the gates are opened will be looking more and more and more like this in the future. The things that are going on that are taking people out all over the place well these things are perpetrated by many evil people. We went around warning against the nations and now they're in our country. And the whole global warming thing is crap anyway we have more trees today than we did 100 years ago The green space is the size of the United States and volume. The plants never been greener and we are going into a solar minimum which means it's going to be getting colder sheep believe with their told. You should read the epoch times or some other viable news source. As long as methanol is produced on a fossil basis (e.g. from coal), it is neither environmentally friendly nor clean. Methanol is only a secondary carrier of energy - a storage medium. Only if it is produced from clean, renewable energy does it have a positive environmental benefit. The expansion of renewable energies is therefore the key. However, this prerequisite is given far too little consideration by the companies and lobbyists involved ...

Put photovoltaics on every suitable roof, use wind, water, biomass wherever it is possible / makes sense! Because the conversion of coal and oil into electricity is the most backward part of our industry. This is where the greatest environmental benefit can be achieved. Immediately and directly. Not by producing methanol from dirty coal, fossil natural gas and crude oil and then promoting this methanol as environmentally friendly. If we use almost only clean, regeneratively generated electricity in the future - then it can also be used to produce clean methanol. The processes exist - but the clean electricity is not yet available. Clean electricity is the basis!

I wish the people in America would stop believing the lies they're hearing and do some historical research. Example this flu. As a 99.7 survival rate. The vaccine has a 13% efficiency rate. 66% of the people who have gotten the vaccine are the ones in the hospital now. These real numbers come from places like the part times. One has to be able to think for oneself which the school system has pretty well deleted that ability and people. Oh if we were only as smart as a few generations ago. Masks don't stop anything certainly not a virus which is able to pass through the mask easily. Quarantining people statistically has caused mass disease death and destruction. At 71 years old I've watched this happen I've watched the Communists take over our nation. Unfortunately the sheep follow so easily. There are more trees in there were 100 years ago. There is the size of the United States green territory more than 100 years ago. It's because of CO2 which is a wonderful thing for the planet. No, it's a misleading lobbying video by the methanol industry! That's why there are only computer animations instead of facts. First, expand clean renewable energy production! Put photovoltaics on every suitable roof, use wind, hydro, biomass wherever possible / sensible! Converting coal, oil and natural gas into dirty electricity is the most backward part of our industry. This is where the greatest environmental benefit can be achieved. And directly and immediately. Not by producing methanol from dirty coal and fossil natural gas and then promoting this methanol as environmentally friendly. Because that is exactly how methanol is produced almost exclusively today - from coal and natural gas! It would already be progress if clean diesel fuel were burnt in ships instead of the dirtiest heavy oil. Or even directly natural gas. That is easily feasible. There would be a great environmental benefit, even if it is fossil fuel. But the methanol industry would not benefit from this change for the time being... If we use almost only clean, regeneratively generated electricity in the future - then clean methanol can also be produced from it. The processes exist - but the clean electricity is not yet available. Clean electricity is the basis!
