Hello. I am really struggling with the sfds and bmds of frames which is a barrier for me to solve the deflection at any point of a frame using virtual work method. Also i cant understand when to use that table (that shows what formula to use according to the shape of bmd for real load against virtual load) and when to use the integration formula!

Can you please do a video on matrix method of structural analysis - flexibililty method? for frames with a udl on the vertical member and point load on the horizontal member specifically? I realised all the books Ive seen only cover matrix method for stiffness method, and literally only go over a brief theory section on flexibility method, its really frustrating
@SafiuddinKhaja10 жыл бұрын
Is there not a difference b/w Virtual work principle and Castigliano's theorem.

Howzit, just a quick question, would it be possible to do a video on Yield Line Theory using the virtual work method? Ive tried reading some literature on it however its difficult to grasp. Do you possibly have any advice on what books would be the best to study from? Thanks for the awesome content!!

why direciton of the unit force through right?
@_sunsor10 жыл бұрын
It is arbitrary. If you called that displacement as being positive to the left instead, whatever calculated deflection you would end up with would switch signs.
