When you look at it from the track manager's perspective, the track has the responsibility for not allowing a car without a rollcage to go over a certain speed. If the driver wrecks his vehicle and hurts or kills himself due to not having a cage, as far as legality goes, the track is liable and the drivers family has the potential to sue the track for a hefty sum. All of that to say, the old man had good reason to give them a stern warning. His job is on the line in a situation like that. In today's age, a track owner could randomly watch a YT video like this and see that a driver was being allowed to run too fast without a cage and the track officials did not do anything about it, then the next thing you know, a manager or employee is let go.

The drivers sign a liability waiver. What DOES happen is that the track loses their NHRA certifications, so no more NHRA events there again.
@dimmn825 жыл бұрын
A waiver form doesn't hold up in court. The judge will simply say they shouldn't have been allowed on the track. It's a liability issue. I really don't see what people don't understand about this.

yo so I am a computer engineer w hella electrical engineering & integrated circuit experience. What you could do if you wanted to keep the ECU setup you have now but with 2 seperated up/side pipes (instead of them joining into one so you can use 1 o2/wideband sensor) is have me or some dude build you a little box to plug the 2 o2 sensors into and then what it would do is constantly add the two voltages together (sum them) and then divide them by 2 (which can be done with a simple resistor or other setup) aka average the reading between them, and then plug that into you ecu so it looks like there is 1 o2 sensor to the ECU and you will have the same ECU side logging abilities w/ the banks combined/averaged between them that you have now but then gain the ability to put 2 dyno-type wide bands in there to get accurate per bank wideband readings. just a little "im high, just got off work, and want to see the homies do good" idea rn lol it would be a super simple circuit setup and you wouldnt have to change your ecu setup at all to do it, just add the box in-between the 2 o2's and then have a single wire to the ECU but it would give you the ability to do real per bank logging at the dyno + give you the ability to just toss the box if you go after market ecu and plug both o2 sensors into it. All that's required on your side is to make 2 up/side pipes which you obviously can knock out. just tryina give you ideas how to go up from your current setup in steps.

lol, a couple resistors will get it done as well. No need to break out the OpAmps.
@von...5 жыл бұрын
@@brianwellingtonlewis I just have hella FPGA experience so I am so quick to pull out the "lemme build you a black box" integrated circuit thing. I am sure if I looked at the output signals of his o2/wideband sensors + the signal the ECU expects there could be a simpler solution like a resistor but if you do it on an FPGA you could program logging both banks' AFRs into it's IC pretty easily that's separate from the probably pretty limited logging on the stock ECU he is using (along with a much higher sampling rate to detect ignition, fueling, or sensor issues easier), but that's making assumptions about his ECU setup I don't actually know.

The build is great, with smaller turbos in a light chassis, shit flies. Once you do have a cage, what I would do, is cut up a hood, to fit around the engine setup but leaving open space for your turbos to eat air, and do some under-carriage paneling, for drag efficiency. It's an insurance thing, they don't want to have anyone die up there, looks bad on them, the could get shut down if they're not holding people to the rules. Regulations in a blue-state, are harsh already, they'd love to shut down a drag-strip, it's in their DNA(it seems). Just wished we could see a full 1/4th mile pass, with a cage, is all, because I know that car is fast af, always knew you could build a fast car with that setup. Never once doubted you about the turbo choice. I'm a fan of smaller turbos myself. Just want you to not get kicked out or hurt.

A sub 10 second 1/4 mile is very fast. I believe at a certain threshold, a roll cage is required as more speed means more mess if somebody has an accident. 5 second time refers to his 1/8 mile time, which is a good indicator for potential gain as one of the barriers to low times is having traction and maintaining it. I'm new here, is the title correct in saying this is a stock LS engine with basically the only changes being turbos and a tune? I ask because in the future my truck is getting an engine swap and I want it to be a "fun" swap. Was thinking maybe trying to fit a 6L LS into it (it "might" fit) and turbo it. The curb weight of the truck stock is about 2800lb, will probably drop a lot of weight with the plans I have, or may stay about the same. Was considering a rotary or a generic V8 but LS engines aren't too hard to find it seems so...
