So you got away Something brought you back To the kid that you were For a couple days Everything you lacked You possessed It was yours Started slow Started late Started strong Then we lost faith Started slow Started to lose control The more we accelerate With your hollow eyes You keep coming back It begins to transform Can you spend the night? Can you be the raft In the eye of the storm? Started slow Started late Started strong Then we lost faith Started slow Started to lose control The more we accelerate The more we accelerate Can I send this kiss right to you now? 'Cause the risk belongs with you somehow Can I return this kiss that you gave? Already know it’s borrowed anyway Was the risk I sent to you received? All the words we say to be believed? I’m already over the thrill of pursuit Where can I take the risk I took with you? Send this kiss to someone new? So you're beaten up But you bounce back It’s all part of the pull And the story runs Like a soundtrack We repeat 'til we're full Started slow Started late Started strong Then we lost faith Started slow Started to lose control The more we accelerate The more we accelerate Can I send this kiss right to you now? 'Cause the risk belongs with you somehow Can I return this kiss that you gave? Already know it’s borrowed anyway Was the risk I sent to you received? All the words we say to be believed? I’m already over the thrill of pursuit Where can I take the risk I took with you? Send this kiss to someone new? So there's no way to hide Find some daylight There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden And I'm inclined to try Find some daylight Hollow eyes There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden And I'm inclined to try

This song came at the most perfect time for me personally. I'm sure it does for many many others. This particular song and the album it is in is part of my journey to quit my day job as a laboratory tech. This video is just a week before it. I quit so I could take the crazy risk to do music with my bandmates. Finish an album, tour, etc. It's an insane and bittersweet risk, and as a 24 year old, it is something I require myself to do. I think a lot of young people need to take risks to chase the seemingly impossible. It will be too late if we wait. The thing that will hurt is the money and the possibility of failure.. but I will take this risk to save my soul. As a major fan of Metric, with a tear running down my eye, I cannot appreciate them enough for their sound and lyrics to be part of my story. I will remember the Art Of Doubt album forever. Thank you Metric. Young dreamers have to hear you.

I don't think I believe in The Perfect Band. I used to think there was at least one forgettable song in every musician's repertoire. I can't find a single boring song in Metric's discography. Every single one is a neon confection of infectious chords, an undeniable backbeat, and lyrical soul candy that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I found Pagans in Vegas by chance in a record shop, listened to it and fell headlong into an obsession. At this point, if Metric isn't the perfect band, don't tell me about it.

metric is definitly an example of why it can be so hard to put a band into some generic category, their so unique, they combine so many different sounds and elements from different places, you can hear pop, indie, electronic, alt rock, punk all in the same song. I think their one of the most diverse bands out their. and one of the best, after all how many other bands that have been around as long as metric has are still putting out great music, damn near zero. Great video too. Separate note, look up winona ryder in blonde hair, her and emily are damn similar looking, every time i see winona i think oh theirs emily from metric in brown hair.

How does Metric just keep getting better? the song is amazing, the video, I’m gonna say it’s a masterpiece, such a simple concept is so absorbing.

As a Floridian, I approve Emily's choice of shirt for this video. Florida is one big sandbar composed of the crushed shells of millions of years of regrets.

Incredible song. One of the best I’ve heard in a long time. That chorus has hooks for days.

Instantly, this song takes me back to my high school years in the early 80s... that palm muted guitar, in particular.
