In tears, watching this video. Never heard of Metric until just the last few weeks. I used to have major depressive disorder for decades. I was close to suicide several times, but never talked about it. Somehow, the MDD went away, cured by a med, a miracle, something. This video reminds me of the desperate feelings I had during MDD and how grateful I no longer suffer. TY Metric for capturing this feeling. In love with all of your music - new fan at age 60. ♥

Thanks to everyone who made this song hit the airwaves in the Vancouver BC suburbs. After I divorced, in 2013, I have dated a bit, but need to move on from the life that wasn't meant to be. I fell in love with her mask, her projection of what she thought I wanted. She was right about that, but it wasn't her. I don't know why she agreed to marry me. 2 damaged people trying to find self confidence I guess. Now I moved to Canada and I'm building a new life and finding new growth in my spirit. Though I am still quite guarded, it is nice to see something in my spirit besides a tree with all the limbs chopped off. Songs like this make me feel like someday I should set up a dating app, or at least try to allow some kind of attraction into my time left on Earth.

LYRICS: // It hurts to turn the radio on My stamina's gone, my spirit is weak Because every time I start to move on Keep hearing that song I'm brought to my knees ~ To permanently see in reverse Take the remorse out of defeat Because everything that's under my skin Where I end and begin Still belongs to me // I'm fine to sit and stare at the door Can't run anymore, too weary to stand I'm bound in the effect with the cause My life is on pause It's out of my hands ~ To perfectly perform in reverse There's no way to rehearse There's nothing to plan Because everything that's under my skin Where I end and begin That's who I am // Oh, only silence can restore The sense of place I had before ~ Oh, only silence can repair My sense of self I lost somewhere // Because the last time I let myself feel this way It was a long, long time ago And now we get so scared And we get so scared To be nowhere left alone ~ Because it's now or never Now It's now or never Now, now, now //

Yes, for some reason this song never gets old. I think that the composition of the song is genius, in that half of the song is taking you from sad , regretful, vibe into a neutral area of what to do about the past (silence and being alone to heal), it finally shufts in thr last part of the song to an optmistic, motivating athem that affirms the need for us to overcome our fears and jump in to what could be a womderous, new experience. It defitly is a engaging song that takes the listener on a journey that listens can empathzie with and align their own lives with the message of the song . Thats why it never gets old. Its really great music!

Metric's music always arrives when I need it most in my life. Dealing with a broken friendship and this song helps me push forward. Only silence can repair and restore myself wherever I lost it. Last time I felt this way was in High school. Going within and giving our pain the love it needs is the only way to heal the pain. It takes time and cannot be rushed, but one must keep going and not stop, no matter how much it hurts to move on from the pain and can't go back to what it was. Thank you!!

This song reminds me a lot of my friend who unfortunately passed away in January this year. His name was Marcelo. Every time I hear this song, I cry. he loved Metric, particularly this song. Marcelo, I'm so sorry! I'll always love you! You are the best friend I could have. One day we'll meet.

It's the no bullshit aspect of metric that got me hooked. There's no agenda, no real direction psychologically suggested, the lyrics just express raw emotion that any human can relate to

I don't know how you guys do it but you always manage to perfectly tap into how I'm feeling. This song is "that song" on on the radio, and many others of yours--but unlike other "that songs"--with yours I can listen feel the healing in it too. Thank you for your amazing music. You're an incredible band and I love you.

This is by far my fav song by them ... I saw it live when they opened for the Pumpkins in London Ont... Such a great beat... Brooding lyrics, you can relate to the loss she sings about, the acknowledgement of needing to try again... Fantastic Metric 👏

The story- They used her for something, and they got what they wanted, but she's on to them. There is no point lashing out at them, they will never change. They will go on using people up. Whatever she was hoping for is gone and may never have been possible. Now her path forward is to oblivion, but also genuine freedom. The love and salvation that was her lot in life, in the form of her band, get there too late.

There's something alluring about this song that I can't quite put my finger on. I think it's the way the start of the climax at 2:40 has an amazing instrumental build up while the vocals unconventionally get slower and softer
