Knowing the Khan in 2033 and Last Light I did expect that Yana will be gone at the end even before watching, and yeah the story is much darker and kinda insane as if he was descending into hell for the latter half compared to the other Metro games.

Yes and yes. VR is insane. One thing that’s immediately amazing is the fact that everything is life-sized. Also handling weapons like in reality especially in combat is awesome. The immersion is unmatched.

I like that after the Exodus, where it was heavily implied that ghosts are caused by the radiation sickness, the authors of this games story through the third party studio stepped ahead and said "Nope, in this universe ghosts are real, but sometimes they do come from the radiation sickness, Novosibirsk is quite heavy on that stuff". (don't quote me on the Novosibirsk though, there are a few dark ones sightings in the city, which may be hallucinations too, but who knows?)
