My phone rings and distracts me for an instant and BAM! Dead Conner.)

actually in metro exodus it's working like this, so you can kill bandits in volga, but not fanatics, or you can kill baron people, but not slaves, and in taiga you should kill only bandits and only some of pirates. in last light you couldn't kill anyone, just knock out

I never like this system, I mean in most rpg games is just common sense, don't be a mass murderer, don't kill inocents and make the best decision to help people/ do the quests for people in need. Here you are in a post apocaliptic world, just act in self defence or kill people who say will look for Revenge and all of a sudden You are a human trash who deserves the worse. For example in Mass Effect when you spared the life of a piece of shit with resources, then he killed many people and the game punished You for being an idiot. In this Game You have to be a foolish Saint.

You need maximum points in charisma but also points in paragon or renegade almost at full in close to the end decisions. Metro has probably just cumulative percentage number of decisions+companion side quests you would need to keep them with you, that last one is the same as in ME :)

Tip for getting the good ending: In each if the three main areas (Volga, Caspian, and Taiga) there is a companion that you will either get injured/die or live. You only need 2 of them alive to get the good ending

In Volga it's the guy who attacks bridge with you, right? He died there in my game. In Caspian there was the "asian" dude who stayed with local girl but in Taiga the guy followed me to train. Plus I did (i think) all "good deed" missions but still got the bad ending. Sucks to be me :P

I never really killed any enemies unless they started shooting at me first. When I did kill, no-one had warned me against killing anyone in that area or mission. I also made sure to do most of the side content i.e. finding the guitar, the bear and later on the canteen and I still got the bad ending.

(Spoiler Free) part of the good ending is to save your crew, 1st knock out cultists and your friend should jump with you, 2nd free slaves and never harm them and your friend should stay on your journey with you, 3rd also knock out and never kill either side and your friend will make a promise to someone. The ending is mostly based on three separate morality systems. The Volga required you to be peaceful and help the fanatics so that at the end of the level they let you pass peacefully instead of violently. There is a good/bad ending for each open world section, which totals up to the end where if you have more good than bad "endings" to each level then you'll get the good ending.

They ignored the Dark Ones Return ending which is the only way Artyom and his band survive the battle of D6. There are only 3 things you have to do: * when you escape from volga and you have to open the door for the train, don't kill anyone, if u kill someone and get alert duke will die *In the desert, free all the slaves, or one of the crew (dont remember his name) will stay to help and you will lose him. *Don't kill the "children" in the forest, if you get alert (idk if this is true) you can kill a few of them but if you get alert in every post i guess your friend wil get his leg hurt and he can't donate blood. You have to do 2/3 of this to get the good ending

JohnnyCacao what I did is I, freed every slave, the ones on the rig, and the broken ship, killed only thugs, ignored tribals, got the photo for Giul, also snuck past the main missions with the water and the the main Base, there’s also a hidden moral point when you walking to the baron a thug will beat a slave with a pipe you can go into that room and knock him out and that’s also a point.

I played the previous 2 game amd the last light as much I love it as much I hated to play to do everything stealthy withouth knocking not killing, knocking people, oh amd sure there wasnt saving system just auto. So it looks I will like the game but for the good ending and to survive all of my friend I will hate it as well. So yeah I cam agree with that the game somites kill the fun. Also in a potsapocalpytic world where you just caunt on you, and monsters, very bad people, less recourses ect...you cant accpet knocking people again. That what I dont get it. You are in stealth and (fe: forest) you should hurt any of them. Why??? I think the game is good and the story could be very intresting if its more close to reality.

I've played 2033 and Last Light so I already knew the fundamentals to get the good ending. I always knockout enemies and do the side missions and what not. It's not hard you just need patience really. Loved the story and ending. My favorite Metro by far. Hope the DLC will continue the story and see a possible reunion of the Dark One and Artyom?

Thanks for making this video. Many reviews never even mention there is a morality system or multiple endings. I've just finished my first play through, used mostly stealth, didn't kill slaves or surrendering people mostly knockouts where possible, did all side quests but got the bad ending! (Maybe that should be called the sad ending, as a story it's still good) I'll play through again and see if I can figure out who I killed that changed the outcome!

I just don’t like this whole idea of everything being either good or bad. It’s not real life, it’s a game. There’s enough judgement and sanctimony in day to day life. I’m okay with myself and where my morals stand. I don’t need to be taught a contrived, paper thin lesson from a game that I’m just trying to enjoy and switch off to. There are certain games, Soma for instance, where a person has to tackle some disturbing moral dilemmas. It’s dealt with intelligently and feels natural to play. Metro Exodus is not that kind of game. It’s a fun game, not an intellectual game. I’d have loved either just one set ending, or several, crazy different endings based upon certain choices, instead of the whole “you’re either a goody, or baddy” thing...but hey....this is just a personal opinion.

I do notice the morality meter is suspended when u kill an alert npc with a gun regardless if they are misguided. Also any misguided with a gun that is stealth killed also does not affect your meter as long as u steal takedown the majority of them.

I got a bad ending in metro 2033 because i wasn't paying attention to details. Then in Last Light I tried my best and still got a bad ending, however at the time I thought it was probably good even though Artyom sacrificed his life. I found out about the real good one later. So in this episode I did everything right and got the good ending at first try, it seemed much easier to obtain than in previous games. However the bad one in Exodus is really sinister, you can't mistake it for something else.

Yeah I'm not sure. I got the good ending but when I was in stealth and clearing out bandits or "bad guys" in general I was lethal the whole time. Always headshots, always kills. Only ever knocked people out if I was close enough or they were surrendering. But I did my fair share or freeing prisoners and helping people when the opportunity presented itself. So it worked out. I'm glad too because I didn't even know there were alternate endings and I would've been so disappointed if I got the bad ending. (I've never played a metro game before so I was unaware of the mechanic)

You can kill a few in the church and on the bridge and Duke still survive. A good rule of thumb is don't turn it into a blood bath. Fall back and hide for a bit if you think you'll be forced into a blood bath. The several angles of approach and ways to get in somewhere really do help.

In the Volga chapter you missed the boat, it's not just getting to the bridge silently. I didn't really realize what that mission was at first, so I just stormed the ship. Later on a character says "it's too bad we couldn't do that quietly". I had never played a Metro game before so I didn't really know how this worked. I did everything else right in the Volga chapter but Duke didn't survive.

Ahhh man how frustrating‼️ I had no idea there was a morality component (this was my first Metro experience). I had done all the side quests, and was really confused why I got the bad ending... but then I watched this here video...🤦🏻‍♂️ aye ye ye...I had killed almost EVERYONE in the game. I figured if they r gonna present a threat to me then it’s ON! And why take the risk of keeping anyone alive. Additionally I can loot the dead bodies. So without being aware of this morality mechanic, it makes far more sense just kill each adversary I encountered. I mean, I def didn’t kill most of the defenseless slaves, but pretty much all the other groups of people mentioned in this video I had marked for death 💀. Oh well. I wonder how this will be incorporated into future DLC, given that my play through received the bad ending. I really had a great time with this game, and will definitely purchase any future releases or add ons. Anyway, thx for making this video, it provided me with some much needed clarity 👍

Down by the teddy bear there’s some dudes in front of a shack and if you walk up w light off and holstered they won’t shoot you and you’ll get a pretty cool interaction. I haven’t see any gameplay of that interaction at all surprisingly

I never played previous games but it felt kinda stupid that you don't know what your morality is throughout the game and it's hard to get the good ending. Game was really good but I didn't even know there was 2 endings till half way through the game.

Hello. I just finished the Volga maps!! A little help from your friends, they indicate not to kill!! Bandits, on the other hand, are easy to kill. I managed to cross the bridge without a fight. Duke lives too.

I never realized that. All I did was not kill people that didn't try to kill me (except the "Forest brothers".. that sneaking mission got so frustrating, I decided to massacre them). Also accidentally shoot up basically all the temple from the swamp. They shot first and I just couldn't stop like a ferret in a chicken pen.

Alyosha got wounded because I killed pirates guarding the first post. I regret that scene so I replay it in Chapters. And when I replayed it and finished it, Duke wasn't present and the resources was reduced to 100. Duke was still alive before I replay the Taiga so realized it can be overwritten in random. It's sad though :(

Karma system in Metro Exodus is way more advanced and complicated than you actually think it is. This guide will work well - sure. But it's not even the 1/10 of ways to get good ending. It's probably one if not even the best karma system in games to this date. I am pretty sure it is. Since i played and saw a lot of versions of such systems in the past. In the end you will get exactly what you deserve.

(This is my moral compass on my first play through of Exodus) I attacked the fanatics because they shot at me in the church. I knew they weren't bad but they were still kind of assholes. But when they surrendered I spared them. But I wasnt against killing them if they went hostile. I tried to free the slaves but I guess I forgot to free some somewhere. But when I got to the forest I noticed how the Pioneers and Pirates talked to one another. They talked about the "Teacher" "the Final Exams" and to not "bully the girls". Personally to me they talked like children. And before the game really revealed who they were I kind of figured it out on my own. They were simply children who grew up in the forest and I know this sounds kind of cringy but I honestly couldnt bring myself to attack any of them. If i got spotted i reverted to my last checkpoint. Wouldnt feel comfortable killing children. Wouldnt feel right killing people with child-like mentalities. That's good writing and game development if you ask me. Made me feel for non-existant computer programs.

I'm in the taiga mission, already know I'm destined to get the bad ending based upon this so I'm restarting the game. You basically have to pretend the Geneva convention applies to Artyom, no point in using suppressors either.

Did all sidequests, only stealth killed bandits or thugs. Free'd most slaves in capsian desert but damir still stayed behind with giul. Killed very few children of the forest, mainly pirates since if you listen to conversations they were becoming bandits slowly unlike the pioneers. Exhausted all dialogue options with olga, also cut that bandit tied to a post free. (Not sure if that last one was the right thing to do) Also killed the bandits that captured the two pioneers. As well as I sat and listened to the Admiral guys conversation. I got the good ending first play through on hardcore, I think the only thing I botched was Damir's and I honestly thought it was canon because him and Giul are the same race and he found a greater purpose with her to save their people. Though I did listen to the radio after that area, and the remaining gang leaders seemed to know that Damir was an outsider and were conspiring. Speaking of that what happened with giul after that zone anyway? Olga still best waifu.
