Metro-North/ CTrail GP40-3H Test Train at East Norwalk

On the night of March 28th, 2023, Metro-North Railroad tested recently leased Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)/CTrail EMD GP40-3H 6699 with a 3 car "mini bomb" consist on the New Haven Line. The test train ran up the New Haven Line from the railroad's Stamford Yard testing PTC mods that were made to the locomotive before final release into revenue branch line shuttle service. Metro-North is leasing locomotives from CTDOT to assist with fleet size while the remainder of their Brookville BL20GHs are sent out for rebuild.
