Hi, roman citizen here. The oldest trains are called mb100, built by Ansaldo Breda between the 80s and the 90s. Later this year they will be replaced by newer trains built by Hitachi rail. Beautiful shootings by the way! The Rome metro staff doesn't like trainspotters at all! As seen at 6:20 in this video: the driver blew his horn and rolled his train slowly specifically to tell you, in italian, that you couldn't shoot videos... That's false, in italy there was a law that prohibited shooting videos of trains and stations until 2010, when it was abolished. This law was introduced by Mussolini during the war, to prevent espionage from the allies! It happened to me too, but I don't give up! Greetings from Italy!

Good piece of info to know, thanks. We're doing a family trip to Italy next year and our first stop is going to be Roma (no choice cause that's the only destination in Italy Air Transat goes to from YUL). We'll be there 5 nights, so 4 full days and I intend to do as much transit photography as possible. If I have a bus, metro or tram operator tell me I can't take pictures of the vehicules, I'll tell them that's not true and to look it up. Then I'll educate them on transit fanning and transit photography. Trends to pass easier after that. Ciao from Montreéal, Québec, Canada!

@@gmnewlook That's the right spirit XD. Hope you'll enjoy the capital, also when in the metro, beware of pickpockets, these years we have a huge problem with them in the A and B lines, especially in the rush hours. Hopefully by the next year the situation will be better, we as citizens are tired and the police is starting to arrest them...

@@flaviobacci3084 thanks! We always look out for them. They usually work in teams and try to create a distraction. The key is spotting them and letting them know discreetly that you know they're there. Anyways, nothing on me is easily accessible for sticky fingers, lol!

All the trains used to be completely vandalised in graffiti years ago, then during the pandemic they cleaned all and they looked great, but I see they're getting vandalised again. Sad to see so much ugliness and destruction in a city that used to be full of glory.

From an italian Citizen...i don't think that metro roma is bad, i use that every day and it is kinda good, but it needs to expand, even if it is not easy at all, because italian underground hides a lot of ancient things, from the roman age, so i dont get why people are insulting it😅

6:20 ''it is (not) forbidden''. Watch out when you spot the trains because some train drivers can be furious for this. Take the video or the picture behind the train to avoid the lecture of train drivers :)

Hey there, I live in Warsaw & I definitely agree, I rarely take the metro but I mostly take them trams, & yes, it looks quite clean.

The Warsaw Metro opened in 1995 and expanded throughout the twenty-first century. The Rome Metro was opened in 1955 and the infrastructure project dates back to Mussolini's time.

On the bright side, at least there is no mold and leaky roofs, rats, and garbage on the tracks like the New York subway.

Only line C is beautiful and is being expanded further. The graffiti is common in Italy and it's the same in Nepal, but the stations are beautiful

This is kind of sad, actually. This system could be so much nicer. It looks like it was designed to be like Montreal's Métro but with the cleanliness and upkeep standards of Boston's MBTA and the graffiti problem of New York City's subway in the 1970s.
