Hey, metroid trainer, I read some post about the draygon cameo in dread looked like the parasite queen from metroid prime. Do you think that the two are connected, because draygon was never given an explanation? I cannot remember the name of the youtuber that wrote this thought.

Have to disagree about the music. I think this is some of the most atmospheric and suitable music we've ever had. It has a rhythm it builds tension and unlike Samus returns where the music failed to capture the mood, here the music matches your current situation and there's some awesome boss themes

To be honest, the Music of Dread actually surpassed a LOT of my previous Favorites. Raven Beak especially. Raven Beak had actually pushed its way to my #1 Favorite Track, even above Metroid Prime (Phase 2), Hopes And Dreams, and A Contest Of Aeons. But that's just me. Z-57 and Escue actually made their way to my Top 10 Favorite Tracks.

I think Dread is genuinely my 2nd favorite metroid, next to Zero mission, i love everything about it, the gameplay , movement feel, Samus' interpretation in this game and Raven beak is really cool too, it looks nice to look at too. My overall gripes are some of the repeating bosses, the music could've been better and some of the environments blending in sometimes like Artaria and Cataris, but i think ZDR is fun to run around in. Nice review of Dread there too :)

I think I must not have went according to the "correct" sequence because the pulse radar was definitely NOT an endgame item when I played. I thinnk I got it about a third of the way in. I liked how awkward having to hold the various shoulder buttons was. It felt like piloting a big power armor, and the momentum really gives Samus a sense of being HEAVY, as opposed to how light she was without her suit in Fusion.

It's my favorite game for a reason lol, but I will say that it could have been a bit better if a few of the cut bosses weren't cut. Dairon's big room has scratches on the walls, grapple points on the ceiling and a lot of space for a boss.

Metroid Dread is my favorite game PERIOD. I've beaten it several times 100%, I've gotten under 4 hours on Normal and Hard, and I have gotten to Raven Beak on Dread Mode!

I didn't ever really find the cloaking to be required. Maybe I am just lucky though but I have played through it a few times and found it to be more of just a key for doors. I guess it could be useful but I feel like mad dashing through the area generally works so I never used it.

As a person who isn’t really into Metroid, this game was a masterpiece regardless It is the best paced and smoothest metroidvania game i have ever played Samus searches an area, then he encounters an emmi and runs, then she gets a power up or ability then he fights that emmi, then he fights a boss then he gets new ability This cycle is perfection and never gets boring You always have something new to do and the game is so so so generous in enemy variety I enjoyed every single boss here and none of them ever felt unfair. This was truly biggest surprise of 2021 for me and i never expected to enjoy a Metroid game this much

I loved playing this game. I thought the emmis may be potentially frustrating since it's a one hit kill but the frequent saves and cool hiding spots make it actually really fun. Never got around to 100%ing the game like I did with the others, I should do that soon

I remember I kinda thought the idea of the game starting over at the enterance of the emmi zone was dumb, but after a few game overs, it really help save time and make it less annoying

@@MetroidTrainer yeah, the checkpoints are quite generous...to the point they even called back to elevators (and trains) serving as checkpoints... But every time you reload a save, you always restart in a save room. I would have liked the travel points to serve as save points as well.

About the EMMIs, i know a lot of people think that they're annoying...but i have an advantage: I played a lot of MGS growing up, so sneaking around them was fun as hell to me.

Easily my favorite game of 2021. With in the first two months I beat it 10 times. It has to be one of the most just pick up and play video games released by a major studio in years. It starts fast and doesn't really let up. About the only thing that I wouldn't mind would be the ability to skip the exposition dump at the very beginning of the game so I can get into the game even sooner.

Honestly I loved this game so much that it got to find copies of the other 2D games and play through them. I've only been able to play remakes for 1 and 2, but Super Metroid definitely lives up to its hype that game was fun.

@@MetroidTrainer I finished it a few weeks ago. It was short but it was fun. Fusion was the only one I beat in a little over 4 hours on my first run. The others took around 10 hours. Apparently Dread carried on a tradition of the last X Parisite Samus absorbs doing weird things. In Dread QR-X makes her Metroid DNA dormant again, and in Fusion absorbing the SA-X lets her use the Ice Beam that she shouldn't be able to use any more. Also, as much of a meme as "The Baby" is thanks to Other M The Baby Metroid is my second favorite character in the series thanks to Samus Returns Finale and Super Metroid's ending.

Power is everything Also it was a mistranslation that the whole fedration was behind the experiments on BSL it was a rouge faction in the orignal JP version and Samus and Adam's actions in Fusion got them exposed and arested which is a lame cop out

I think the most useless skill is the double jump, because it gets over shadowed once you get space jump. Only use for it, is people who know or want sequence breaking.

dread to me is a solid game with tight gameplay 8/10 ( i am rly hard on giving a score, and i honestly give most games a 5/10.. so to me this is AMAZING and rare) however, not without its flaws how to fix it? 1 i would like an actual epiloge, cuz jesus this game ends abruptly 2 i would like something to unlock for a second playthrough, not just some cheap reskin (like SR fusion suit), but actual cool new things examples could be, a 2d sprite samus with 2D classic animations, and fusion suit, both giving a buff or something, fusion suit gvies a harder difficulty, and classic gives perhaps something else this would make replaying the game much more fun 3 give me options to change my controls, the switch force control switches do not count i want to chose how my speedbooster works, cuz i think that fusion and zero mission permanent speedbooster are better, and if they make it so i can freely chose between button press or permanent that be great best case, they remove 1 more buttonpress from the gameplay and make it even smoother and tighter 4. perhaps 1-2 more power ups that are behind rly hard optional / highly missable bosses or hard puzzles with checkpoints as we have them now this is a super thing to do we had great speedbooster puzzles, just put 1 super long puzzle to unlock a cool new upgrade, like for examplea new beam or missile upgrade, maybe a combo beam you can do by charging the beam and then firing missiles or a boss after a short but hard puzzle that could be anything rly, maybe something like... a new suit? perhaps? like idk, a grapplebeam upgrade that lets you metroid drain from range? or do a range melee? i honestly would like some rly cool and OP power ups hidden behind something HIDDEN, something so far away and well hidden away from thje beaten path that you will only find it while doing a 100% and try to find all the ups

Im so glad metroid dread delivered as well as it did, your review was 100% what mine would've been. The only real thing that surprised me was the animals were never brought up, even in the intro because of their impact on the ending of fusion i thought they wouldve been haha. But i really think the next arc will be about samus and the galactic federation and i think they mightve been holding off on that for the next game? Because i know the creator said there might be a new story arc so lets have hope! lol

This game is really great but it won't become a legendary classic like super metroid for a few reasons. It's soundtrack made too many mistakes by not including classic item room music, etc. It has way too much of the color black everywhere. Seriously, especially the morph ball sequences. The phantom cloak became obsolete way too soon and there was no real creative us for it apart from emmis. I also feel like it was designed with speed running in mind. I've always felt like a great/classic metroid game gives you the option to enjoy it slow at first and then fast later. It lacked custom controls.. In the year 2021, for real. Overall it is a great game but they flubbed some necessary basics in order to make the game a true unmissable classic.

I agree with a lot of the flaws u mentioned, but I do feel like the game does give an option for slower progress. For my first playthrough, I took one of the slower routes while other people with better skills took shortcuts.

Metroid Dread is a game that has constantly become better with every play. I started with a 7-8/10 for me and now I'm easily at 9/10. Mercury Steam has done a tremendous job with this title and improved almost every aspect over Samus Returns.

I have something tl say about the Spider Magnet. People keep praising it for being better than the Spider Ball, but really it's just the same as the ladders from Metroid Fusion that you could climb, so Fusion fixes this 20 years before Dread without needing to use an upgrade to do it.

Definitely a great game. Negatives for me: not enough diversity in biomes and paces too quickly. The item upgrades come really quickly one after another with not enough traversal in between. The music is another point. Also, I found that only the EMMI zones and boss fights were challenging. The rest wasn't very difficult in most places. Super Metroid is still #1 for me, but Dread is definitely a fantastic game. I hope we get another sequel in the next two or three years. Also, I agree about Other M. Despite it's flaws, it was a really fun playthrough with my favorite Metroid boss fight: Phantoon (sp?). But also the worst final boss fight for sure. How could Team Ninja have gotten so much right but still got so much wrong? I digress.

I might have worded that part wrong, I was talking about how the sales and reception of Other M cause Nintendo to put the series on the shelf for a while. I dont think it was a coincidence that there was almost 8 years of time between between Other M and Samus Returns
