Definitely my favorite Gameboy game and second only to Super Metroid in my mind, even though I've liked all the Metroids I've played (haven't played Other M yet). I love this theme, it makes me think back to when I first played the game. I've had this game on my 3DS for four years now, I got it free when Club Nintendo was still a thing. I've played it several times and I've pretty much memorised the whole map, I recently got the original cartridge for my Game Boy Color and I beat the game the next day in three hours and seven minutes. I love this game, I'm excited for the 3DS remake.

While the two remakes are really well done musically, I can't help but think that neither really captured the original's soundtrack. I like all versions of Metroid II, but I find the original to still be special even if the game has not aged too well.

I just had to come and listen to the original to compare. I went to listen to the AM2R version and can tell that they overworked the music. It is missing so many of the high trumpety notes that made this theme sound so triumphant.

That is so true. Do you know what Nintendo should have done? A remastered version of this game on the 3DS (replacing federation force) and a remastered version of Super Metroid on the Wii U. If Nintendo doesn't want to make a new metroid game yet, then why don't they use the old ones and remaster them?

@@novustalks7525 Huh I just deleted my previous post, I didn't expect you to reply.... How is the artstyle horrible? It's how metroid has looked since the prime era for the most part. Plus the metroids have way more defined features than their original sprites which were soo limited. Seeing the zeta and omega float around always looked off. Samus was too floaty and slow in the original, couldn't shoot in multiple directions, and had a space jump that could cancel out easily making you fall down, and yet you think Sr has clunky controls, when it fixes all that? Zero atmosphere? You think starting off on the surface with a dessert like setting with minimum music to make the player interested from the start to wonder what's going to happen next isn't atmospheric? An exotic area showing you that there is beauty in sr388? The lava areas that straight away warn you that it's hot while blasting norfair depths? The diggernaut appearing early on, and you wondering when it's going to appear again? The queen metroid screaming after you killed the last regular metroid? You about the head to the ship at the end and there's a storm, making the player wonder if something will appear? Zero atmosphere my ass. While you have the original with it's mostly pitch black background making almost every area too samey. The most atmosphere the original had was it's cavern themes, and even then they are just occasional sound effects playing.
