yeah the whole gameplay behind metroid with all the little rooms was basicly because the hardware couldnt handle it much better....no real reason to hold back like that anymore with newer hardware.
@TheRealPSKilla502Ай бұрын
@@N4MELEZIt’s called metroidvania gameplay. It based on a series of locks and keys that test your navigational skills and require you to remember places you saw earlier but couldn’t yet access. Essentially, the world is a giant interactive maze, which can be an incredibly fun experience to solve. Basically, think what people love about traditional LoZ dungeons, but expanded to encompass the whole world. This experience is sorely lacking from many modern games which prioritize player freedom above all else. That’s why it would be extremely disappointing if the next Metroid game is anything close to an open world.

@@TheRealPSKilla502I assume they are more referencing to the usage of in game doors, not the removal of conceptual locks. There is not really a need to use in game doors anymore other than for asthetic purpooses. Having a more interconnected world that streams in data instead of loading it with the activation of a door. Like having a natural cave network full of doors does not make much sense. So maby instead of e.g a missile door, they could utilise a rock formation that can be blasted appart without a loading animation.

When the game eventually came out, I ended up getting it because the internet just wouldn't shut up about it aaaand long story short: that's my favorite game now. I'm a Metroid fan now. I can’t see Metroid having a large appeal in Nintendo consoles, the trailer we saw make prime 4 looks like a continuation of 3 and prime remaster was in the same style, it didn’t see great sales. - it is M - people buy Nintendo console for game that non-core gamer can enjoy. Mario, Zelda and animal crossing all did that in different way. Metroid is too hardcore. While Zelda wasn’t selling in the day of the Wii, it sold well in the SNES and N64 days, this have shown potential in the franchise. I think maybe DK serve that role better than Metroid or Mario

I can see it but at the same time we all know its genre is more niche. Its core appeals to less people so it is harder to convince everyone. They somehow have to change the formula in a way Breath of the Wild did for Zelda. And I really really hope they stick the landing again.

3D Metroidvania isn't any more niche than any other genre, just mostly unexplored by AAA studios. Jedi Fallen Order has proven that if you actually MAKE a 3d Metroidvania and sell it on relevant platforms it will sell like hot cakes. Especially in todays market that is already oversaturated with open world slopp. What Metroid Prime 4 needs to do more then ever is not follow a trend that died years ago and instead stick to it's genre, otherwise it'll completely miss the currently changing zeitgeist.

The Metroid series always had a bit of parallel to the Zelda series. Essentially both games had worlds that would open up as you explored and got new items, usually after a boss. The latest Zelda games took this a step further by featuring Link at "full power" at the beginning of the game before stripping you of that power for whatever reason.

We metroid fans have long waits for new games it's true, but they rarely disappoint. Prime 4 looks incredible, but it needs to have some "thing" that's big and unexpected if it's going to have the effect like BOTW did. If it's just a new slightly more polished prime game, I think it will do well, and review great, but not have the impact BOTW did back in 2017.

12:55 haha did you know that Dread was originally teased 19 years before it was released? It was originally supposed to come out on the ORIGINAL DS! 😅 I'd be lying if I said I haven't had this same thought, and I REALLY hope it happens. Metroid is my favourite gaming series of all time, and I'd LOVE to see it become a mainstay Nintendo franchise like Zelda. That said, I can't help but worry that it won't happen quite like that. Metroid games are not long, and gain a lot of their long-term appeal from their replayability, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. By contrast, BotW was a MASSIVE game that you could easily sink hundreds of hours into in just one playthrough which I think has a lot more general appeal. Of course this is assuming that Prime 4 is of a similar scale to the other games, but I worry that the Metroid formula, while awesome, doesn't have the same broad appeal necessary to launch it into mainstay status. I REALLY hope I'm wrong though! Now excuse me while I go salivate over the Prime 4 trailer for the 1000th time 😅

This is actually one of my main concerns. No offense to you or your experiences, but as a long time fan of Zelda, I often find myself blaming the success of the “contemporization” of modern Zelda for the ruination of the franchise’s identity. I’d love for Prime 4 to do well, but it needs to well in its own right, not by compromising itself for a modern audience. That way the fans it garners will be authentic Metroid fans and not “Modern Metroid” fans.
