Mature student here. Starting University, year 2 from September. Can you show/tell us what a QS bonus structure looks like and how it is achieved? I have found nothing online to show, despite a lot of job ads containing the '+ bonus'

Hi Sam, Where are you based? Are you interested in the bonus structure itself (as this may be company dependant) or the packages available (such as car allowance etc). Or both maybe?

@@Metroun Hi, I am based in Scotland. I am interested in the bonus structure itself and also the metrics on how it is achieved.

Loving the videos, very informative and helpful. I'm looking to get start a career as a QS (as a career change). I have a 2:1 Degree in Marketing, and would be looking to get an MSc in Quantity Surveying. Do you know the best way to go about getting my foot in the door with a company, and potentially getting them to offer me work experience / even some financial support towards the Masters? I'm new to the industry so not sure if that's even a thing. I've been looking at Grad Schemes but they all want an application now for a start date of Sept 2024, which is obviously no good to me as I wouldn't even be able to start my MSc until January. Thanks for your help!

Take a look for apprentice or assistant QS positions and inform them of your intentions. If you're keen, willing to learn and fit the mould they require, they may offer you the opportunity.

Hi recently finished my degree in ba architecture and was looking down different career paths, found this very interesting and have binged your videos. Does my degree help me in anyway with this course and how long does the apprenticeship course cost?

Hi. Thank you for watching all our videos. Its great that you have found them useful. In short, yes, a degree of any kind will help you in this profession as the company would pay for a master degree in quantity surveying for you instead of a full degree. This would only take 2 years part time instead of 5 years.

I am a middle aged woman looking for a career change.I have a degree in a totally unrelated area. What is the best route for me? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Anna, The quickest way for you would be completing a Masters in Quantity Surveying. You would probably have to start off in a business as a trainee or graduate QS. The salary at this stage would be anywhere between £20,000 and £30,000. Most companies are willing to pay for your degree as suggested in this video. Once you've completed your masters (part time over 2 years), and gained experience, you can expect to be promoted to a Quantity Surveyor. The salary at this stage would be anywhere between £30,000 and £50,000. We hope this comment has helped.

Hello, whilst we can't definitively state the best subjects to assist you in gaining an apprenticeship for Quantity Surveying, there are a number we feel would be beneficial. Maths: Essential for the financial and analytical aspects of quantity surveying. It helps in understanding complex calculations, budget management, and cost control. Law: Helpful for understanding contracts, legal regulations, and compliance issues in the construction industry. Economics or Business Studies: These subjects offer insights into financial management, economic principles, and business practices, which are integral to quantity surveying. Design and Technology or Engineering: These subjects give practical knowledge about construction, materials, and design, which are directly applicable to quantity surveying. Geography or Environmental Science: These subjects provide knowledge about land use, sustainability, and environmental impact, which are important in modern construction projects.

I am currently working as a Quantity Surveyor in UAE. I'm fresh to UAE so I'm not getting a good salary to save up for my BSc. Currently I have a diploma. Is there any ways for me to get a BSc. without paying the whole cost? (Scholarships, etc.) My dream is to migrate to UK or Europe one day but I'm not mych financially privileged as I have so many commitments in my home country Sri Lanka. I will highly aappreciate any tips. Thank you in advance.

The best way to get this would probably be through the apprentice route. Here you would likely receive a lower salary, but your employer would pay for your degree. Hopefully this video is of use to you.

Are there universities that offer apprenticeships degrees in qs for international student's?
@Metroun3 жыл бұрын
This is where it gets a little more difficult. The apprenticeships are mainly for people within the country. May I ask which country you live in? We can see if there is an option there too...
