Mets-Willets Point, LIRR and IRT: Don't get the two confused

The Astoria and Flushing lines were operated by both IRT and BMT, with everything going through Queensboro Plaza. Each had their own half of the station (BMT trains would enter via 60th Street Tunnel, and IRT from the Steinway Tunnel, and over the Queensboro Bridge), and from their both had tracks that split off to either Astoria or Flushing. This meant that the station was originally double the size then it currently is, as it use to be a 4 platform, 8 track station. Once the city took over both the IRT and BMT, they streamlined the system, and got rid of the BMT half of the station.

I’ve lived in Jackson heights past 14yrs (from Pittsburgh) still haven’t went to a Mets game. I live on 74th street, 7 train takes me right there to go watch Pirates play the Mets or just go watch game, see the stadium inside, been by it plenty of times. Heard it’s a lot more peaceful, less expensive n overall better than Yankees stadium.

It's not that the MTA "didn't have the rights" to use the Citifield name. It's that Citibank didn't want to PAY the MTA to use it, so the MTA made a point of leaving it off. Citi would have been happy to have the name used, but Barclays Bank had recently paid the MTA to use the name Barclays Center on a station, so the MTA refused to use the name Citifield without getting paid for it.

You forgot to mention before the pandemic, LIRR trains will skip Mets-Willets Point on the times there weren't events like Tennis or Mets Baseball. This obviously changed as of now, Mets Willets Point is served 24/7 due to it being close to a COVID-19 vaccination site.

It's not so much a right to the name of the bank, but rather the bank didn't want to pay for the naming rights deal for the stations. The bank is in the middle of paying $20,000,000 per year over 20 years so that we have the displeasure of seeing their name on the stadium. I for one am thrilled the stations have the names they have now. In Brooklyn, there's a station that actually has the name of the corporate naming rights john that paid for it (yeah, I am not going to write their name here, though).
