Great job putting this all together. I remember seeing trains on the overpass of the Creedmoor line, at Jericho Tpk. while that section was still active, in what I could recall was in the late 1950's.

At this time the old South Ferry station was part of the IRT Third Avenue Elevated line (along with Hanover Square, Chatham Square, Fulton Street, and Franklin Square) and it was one of the first elevated line stations that was opened back in April 5, 1877. Remember, these old South Ferry stations was only exclusive to express trains. This was also the time during between the late 1870s and early 1920s (or mid 1910s) when steam trains were still running until it was succeed by open cars trains. Not just that, old South Ferry was one of the first triangle tracks to be there until it was removed by 1951 after the final services concluded by December 22, 1950. There are few videos that talked about the old South Ferry station, but no footage or more photos that are survived as of November 13, 2024.

This will be helpful for me especially that now I’m living in Bensonhurst and for me to chill with my homies in ozone park and Howard beach I gotta take the (D) to the (R) to the (A) from downtown Brooklyn to just ride back east towards queens …, we also need a circle ⭕️ line like Madrid Paris and Moscow

3:30 Update, the latest station renamed is now Christopher Street - Stonewall ( formerly known as Christopher Street - Sheridan Square ). Which also happens to be on the 1 train service.

Can you imagine if even half of these lines were actually built? Think about how transit deserts in many parts of the city led to massive hardship for so many hardworking folks in the second half of the 20th century. Things would’ve went so differently

8:37 You can actually see this connection if you look at any map within a few months of the September 11th attack. When the towers fell, much of lower Manhattan was utterly totaled, especially the underground tunnels. This meant the only services able to really operate in the area were those to the far east of Lower Manhattan. What sits along Eastern Manhattan? The Nassau St Line. So they used the Montague Street Tunnel to make a supplement N and R train to run into Brooklyn during that time of crisis.

Believe it or not the 7 train's terminus was Times Sq-42 St. It used to be until 88 years it was extended to 34 St-Hudson Yards in 2015.

I went there today to explore the abandoned Elmhurst LIRR station that connects to the GG and N trains until 1985 when it was abandoned due to low ridership in service. Now, the now-G train and the R train are still stopping at Elmhurst Avenue in Queens

Good thing the Van Wyck Blvd line and College Point line werent built. It should have been 1 long vertical line that connects The Bronx to Queens. I have a youtube short of this route on my channel.

I was always wondering why they make Court Square the terminal station of the G train, why they couldn't extend it a little bit further to upper part of Queens. And there is no any train line that runs from Queens straight down to Brooklyn, only those that have to go to Manhattan first and then cross the bridge/river again to Brooklyn. Today I learned that G train actually did go all the way through Forest Hills from Brooklyn. If it still operate in that way today, it would reduce my daily commute down by 30 mins 🤣

The BMT shoulda bought the entire Evergreen branch from the river to the Bay Ridge branch, put it in a trench like the Sea Beach branch, and put it on a viaduct over Newton Creek.

I for one think that both branches should be revived but also a Western section added to create a proper Staten Island Circle Line that could and should run 24/7/365 and probably be automated with platform screen doors...
@stickynorth6 ай бұрын
The Utica Avenue line should be revived and built along with a revival of Floyd Bennett Field as a secondary/regional airport like LaGuardia to cater to regional flights to take some pressure off JFK across the harbour, and then connect the two with more automated skytrains!

They should convert it into a bike path / running path. IT WOULD BE AN AMAZING WALK WITH VIEWS TO LIC!!! would connect some KEY neighborhoods and reduce congestion and increase health and wealth. Currently its used occasionaly by freight trains
