Such a huge talent! Nice to see a tribute to Mr. Morris' voice work on that show. Oh, and Morris was the voice of Mayberry's famous radio singer Leonard Blush too-- "The Masked Singer", a local Mayberry celebrity who did all the vocals on the "Ethel Page Organ Recital" on the third Tuesday of every month, from station YLRB in Mount Pilot. :D

Howard Morris wasn't the only The Andy Griffith show cast member to do voiceovers on The Flintstones. Hal Smith and Howard McNear did some voiceovers.

Without sneaking a peak at his IMDB, Morris had to have been a very busy voice actor in the 60's. I had forgotten of all their prehistoric takes on the other popular TV characters like Weirdly Grusome.

@brom00 He voiced Jet Screamer and other incidental characters on The Jetsons. He voiced Beetle Bailey, Zero and General Halftrack in the made-for-TV Beetle Bailey cartoons from 1963. He voiced Mr. Peebles on The Magilla Gorilla Show. He voiced the White Rabbit in Hanna-Barbera's version of Alice in Wonderland (What's A Nice Kid Like You Doing In A Place Like This?). He was the original voice of Atom Ant but left Hanna-Barbera for about ten years after a falling-out with Joe Barbera and the role was taken over by Don Messick. He voiced Jughead, Moose and Dilton Doiley in Filmation's Archie and Sabrina the Teenage Witch cartoons. Moving into the 1970's, he voiced Frankie, Wolfie, and Mummy (and probably other characters) in The Groovie Goolies. He voiced Tim O'Hara in My Favorite Martians. He voiced the title character in The Secret Lives of Waldo Kitty/The New Adventures of Waldo Kitty. He was the original voice of Mayor McCheese in McDonalds commercials, and later took over the role of the Hamburglar. In the 1980's he voiced Wade the duck in the US Acres segments of Garfield and Friends, and he voiced Scooby's favorite comic strip character, Platypus Duck, in an episode of The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

Just saw him on the Mel Brooks movie, High Anxiety as the professor. Thought he reminded me of the character Ernest T. Bass. Looked it up and sure enough it was him. 😂 Then to see this about the voices on The Flintstone's. I had no idea and it was one of my favorite childhood cartoons. 58 now and still learning something new every day.

End credits every episode. Melʼs original styling of BR was nasal and reedy, and a year or two later, Barneyʼs distinctively measured chuckle led the way forward, as Mel kinda memorialized the actual inflections of early WB director Tex Avery.

@@schwei56 Originally, MB voiced BR the same way he had done his imitations of Lou Costello in the Looney Tunes shorts, but by the second half of season 1 he changed BR's voice to its familiar form resembling Art Carney as Ed Norton, thus also adding the stylistic chuckling reminiscent of Tex Avery that you mention.
