It always amazes me how well the American cemeteries and historical battle sites are maintained in Europe. They continue to honor these brave men and women who sacrificed everything for freedom. Thank you for posting this!

One of many incredible cemeteries in Europe; it is a humbling sight to see in person. We visited while tracing the steps of the 32nd Division. I hope you got to stop and see the Romagne 14-18 Museum while you were there.

Absolutely riveting. Well done. I appreciate that the headstones are so perfectly aligned and straight after 100+ years. It shows great respect and preserves the dignity of all who sacrificed everything.

My Grandmother's youngest brother Gurdon Moore is buried at the Meuse Argonne. Grave 189. The family was originally notified that he had been wounded and then received no further information. My Grandmother wrote many letters to the hospital and his unit to find out how he was doing. In February 1919 she received a letter from his commanding officer with the news he had died of his wounds just hours after he was wounded some 6 months early. The letter still sits in the top drawer of my desk.

Chris, there is a group in Wichita, KS, who are working to rebuild an aircraft that's the same model as the one 2Lt Bleckley was in as Observer when he was shot down. It will be painted as his plane was during the war and put on display inside the airport terminal at Eisenhower Airport.

Wow...that's awesome. I'll definitely want to see that when it's done.
