Mewis Sisters Revisited

The day after U.S. Under-23 and UCLA midfielder Samantha Mewis won an NCAA title with the Bruins in Cary, N.C., older sister and U.S. WNT defender/midfielder Kristie Mewis had an afternoon off from training camp in Los Angeles and traveled to campus to see her sister, who flew back early in the a.m. to take her last final exam. The sisters from Boston are the most successful siblings in U.S. WNT history, having played together at the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand and the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany. Sam won a U-20 Women's World Cup in 2012 while Kristie has played 10 times with the senior side while scoring one goal so far, that coming in her hometown last June.

The most deserving First-Time NCAA National Champion of the 21st century. god only knows how many times UCLA choked in the NCAA WCC. (I remember my team, Notre Dame, stole one away from them. -.-) It's ironic, tho, in all seriously, that a team from the Pac-12 would win in a year where the ACC was clearly THE best conference in the country for both men's and women's soccer (and it showed by three teams from that conference going to the WCC and the Notre Dame men going to the MCC).
