A few little commission tips from my experience: 1. List how many revisions you provide upfront. Any additional revisions is an increased fee. 2. Start with accepting only a few commissions at a time. Taking many projects at once can be overwhelming at the start. 3. Give your clients 24 hours minimum when giving them a draft to consider revisions. Even if they respond right away, it never fails that they message again a few hours later with another edit that needs to be made. Just give them some time to really look at it before you put work into finalizing a draft. Best of luck out there, lovelies!

I’d say that “too high” is incredibly subjective. Especially depending on the country / cost of living where a creator is from. Not to mention the divided cost of materials used in order to create a piece of work. The only way I consider a commission being “too high” is if the artist is outside of my personal budget.

I agree with some of these philosophies, but artists shouldn’t focus on social media followings to get commissions nor have low expectations either because those create bad complexes. I’ve been getting $500+ commissions for years without any following or big industry experience, which is why I also teach how to get respectable commissions and wages

i would also like to note that you can always reach out to friends and mentors who have done commissions and ask for their prices to see what you should charge and as well as, you can also price your commissions based of the tools being used ex: using photoshop for digital art plus some custom brushes: $50 + $ (insert price of brushes) even if the program being used was like $10, like mewtripled said: charge no less than $25 ALSO CHARGE FOR REVISIONS!!! 💗 have fun yall

Yeah, but how do I get clients? How to I convince people to buy my art? Because I only have 6 followers on Instagram and waiting for someone to dm you asking for a commission won't work. You need to dm the people that likes your art or follows you because they've already shown interest in your art. How do I convince people to buy my art? How do I get clients? What should I say to them? Because only saying, "hey, do you wanna buy my art?" doesn't work at all. I'm facing financial struggle right now, I have depression and that's affecting me in my professional career. I can't get a job but I do wanna work. I'm 21 and have zero money in my wallet. And the only thing I know how to do is art. But I'm struggling too much to get clients. Could you help me with that?

Although I don’t get commissions often, I’ve gotten them from fandoms. I’d say grow your following a bit more. It’s hard for me to get clients as well but sometimes finding people who’d like specific fanart drawn might help
@scribzscribbles
@scribzscribbles Жыл бұрын
not saying you have to do fanart to get more followers, especially since IG doesn't care about content creators, but that helps with getting some interests/clients. I might have a bias for YT, but that's how my following has grown even the slightest bit.

Thanks for this video Mew. I've been wanting to give commissions work a try. Especially to use this method to help me evolve and learn from. Espeically when it comes to drawing which I'm decent at and my panting which I'm better at over drawing. I love to challenge myself n think commissions might be a good fit for me down the road. But not sure where to start on pricing. So this actually helped me think on my strategy. Also never heard about Artistry before.

Very good and Informative video, but the background music is extremely distracting and aggravating to me with only the loud rhythmic beat coming through. It's like. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. I don't know. I think it is worth considering for people who can be sensitive to certain sounds ;;.

I plan to major in graphic design for uni next year, and every uni website I look at has a degree that leads to graphic design under a different name- fine arts, studio arts, design, and so on- could you help and explain what I should be looking for when trying to find a degree that can put me on the graphic design career path?

Do I have the same degree and can't find a job, not even in my town and big citys it's worse you be ghosted or get told not a real designer go die somewhere wich I been told by one company. As for remote it's all a scam or fake jobs sadly.

Post bits and pieces of your art in different galleries here and there... Not just the main social media sites... I'm not saying anything will happen because of the general attitude of people that don't want to pay for art at all, but you might get lucky

Something that helps so much that isnt talked about enough is how important it is to have friends in both the art community and your target audience. When you and your friends are constantly hyping eachother up and being positive it lets your potential buyers see that you actually are involved in the community and arent looking for a quick paycheck. My experience is a lil different as i primarily do nsfw comms but buyers, in my experience, do care if you seem like you actually care about the community or not

A friend is asking me to do a portrait for them in name of friendship. Should I do it? I just don't feel respected enough. I am ready to do it free for anyone if I feel they value the work. A note: I am a generalist so I do portraits too. But, rn I am really focusing on character design, vis dev, and graphic novels. I don't feel they respect my time or effort.

I have been thinking about starting to offer commissions again, but I might just stick to mailing traditional art in the UK, will def limit customers, but mailing traditional art overseas is expensive. Of course digital art can be world wide, especially when it come to design based work. but either way can be difficult when it comes to pricing 😑

Excellent information and advice, very specific and varied, I don't think you have left anything out. My constructive criticism: at the end of the video I have a feeling that it lacks "air" in terms of audio, that there could be a little more silence between the voice, it sounds a bit monotonous, please with the greatest respect . I hope it helps you, keep in mind that I am from Latin America and I can understand the language differently. Anyway, thank you very much and keep up! it helped me a lot to know where to start
