even animators use real time movement references, they cant just magically conjure up all the fight scenes randomly, they need to study them

Sorry for the long ass comment, I got a bit excited hearing someone else recall very similar experiences when I felt I was alone in this- When I was a small silly child, I idolized your art from KZbin and dA , so much that I also ended up going to college for animation. I feel like at the time we applied for school, there wasn’t much common info around about the drawbacks of pursuing a career in this field or going to an art school- and for me specifically, the area I lived in encouraged teenagers to pursue higher education promising them financial stability and no real other alternatives. Applying for schools gave me at least a lot of promises of a successful animation career and the fulfillment of working in a studio, but the reality was very far from that truth. Unfortunately a lot of the things you said in this video ring true to my own experiences as well. I stopped drawing in an anime style when i found there was a distaste for it in the industry and colleges I was applying for. It made me sad but i forced myself to do it. Because of that, I have years of work I’m not proud of at all or can hardly truly identify with as my own. I thought animation was the closest thing to what I actually wanted to do (which was either make manga or draw for vocaloid producers.) I worked full time after being hired during my studio internship and it made me utterly miserable as an artist. I was exhausted and burnt out from staring at adobe flash all day. Truth is, there’s not much room for artistic freedom or expression and it was a lot more corporate and tedious than I initially imagined. My studio supervisor who trained me seemed run down and burnt out himself. He revealed to me that even a studio job isn’t stable, essentially it’s like working on a commission long term. The animation industry isn’t for me which makes me sad because some of the art that’s come from it is beautiful but I’m realizing for my own sanity I do not want to be part of that. Trying to rekindle a burnt out love I had for the one thing that made life worth living nowadays is a struggle. But I am millions of times happier knowing I didn’t end up in the animation industry and I have the privilege to explore art again on my own terms. I was surprised to hear this coming from you and I’m sorry you had some similar struggles regarding the industry. I’m happy for you that you’re able to find some new avenues that allow you to express your creativity more than ever. Best of luck to you, cheers!

Well it's pretty simple if you don't have what people want in your artwork (and it can vary in the whole spectrum) you won't get much views at all. Add algorithm that promotes what people view more and your art will get most likely buried somewhere in the depths. Example is low effort art that gets more views, you can put great effort into the piece but it won't guarantee the success. In conclusion: If you don't speak to wants and emotions of people you won't get much views no matter how much effort you put in. If you want to be an artist but don't want to do what people want it's better when you make non profit account and keep it as a hobby or additional job you do to relax and post either silly or dramatic things whatever sits in your mind. And you will find followers that support your self-expression. If artists understand this the better for their health mental and physical because they are actually one and the same. That's how people in general work.

What was your contract like? I've seen work contract that had some restriction when creating designs outside of work. How did you make sure that they weren't similar enough to claim that it's theirs? Or that this was an idea they came up with or developed? I'm more worried about the penalties side of things.

if i'm truly honest to you, i want to become an illustrator storyteller in my future career and i want to make a comic that shows my own new character and ideas of the story that talks about maybe life lessons and some good features of the story that i may need to work on. I want to learn how it feel to make my own book with my own ideas and illustration artstyle to show that I can make a good talent, so i'm really happy you told me your experience cause i may need them when i'm ready to find my job and find what i need to do as a future storyteller illustrator..

The thing about having to quit a 9-5 is that you need to have a 9-5 first to pay your bills before quitting. Which is borderline impossible for some people these days.

Its actually a savings/emergency fund you need to quit a job. I know many's first response to the above will be "I can't afford to save" but imo this is a lie distinctly purputeated to keep us down and in a state where we'll always live paycheck to paycheck. Save even when you (think) you can't. I speak from experience. Take an afternoon and do serious audit of your finances. Find out exactly where your paycheck is going to, every red cent and you will almost certainly find a few spare dollars you cannot account for. Slap that money in a high-yield savings. Doesn't matter if it $100 or $2. Make it automated so you don't even think about. You'll be very surprised at how quickly that small amount of saving build up. Now I'm not claiming saving a $1 a week will have you job quitting ready in 3 months but it will hopefully be enough to show you the value of saving even if you're stuck in the cycle of living hand to mouth because it is imo, the first step in having any chance to move away from that cycle

I'm an artist, my specialty is scenic art, murals, and themes, sculpting. Because I run a business, I earn through contracts and projects. I am 54 years old...getting a little tired of climbing ladders and scaffolds and driving boom lifts, hanging and dangling to many feet in the air. I'm moving my art company towards digital.

🎄🥰Michelle Thank you and happy Christmas too. I have used Fiver for help me with blog site that’s it. However I think a video on detail questions what to ask the artists that you commissioned ur background you have experience delegating work. What would out rights and etiquette. If there could be a separate video on how much money time exactly what to say or after how you rig operate your vtuber is it like adobe character animate (which I suck at) btw. If I’m asking a lot my bad🌹 I think it’s like be certain and be prepared to spend money but like how much or if that tmi estimate? Thank you and ily and merry Christmas to you and ur cat and 🪴 🐈🐈‍⬛

I’d say the Vtuber rigging & animating are more work since the PNGtuber just needs key frames for expressions… Rather than needing to splice layers, mesh, rig, & animate each expression on a Vtuber.😅 Also, $90 for a Vtuber?! They should be charging way WAY more! Especially for the turnaround speed, OhMyGodzilla. 👀💧 Many Vtubers spend THOUSANDS on their models, & HUNDREDS or just as much for outfits. Sure, you can DIY thru a Vtuber character creator app (tho it usually won’t be rigged well) &/or learn the software the Vtuber Riggers/Animators use, tho it takes Hours, if not Months to get good. PNGtubers just need the key frames.👀

Yeah I will definitely say I had no idea what the range for vtuber creation / rigging could be - I hope the artists charge more in the future for their work!! I guess for me my POV is for a png tuber I would have more work to do per video I make as I would have to choose the poses / add in more poses to do if I ever have an expression that aligns with the video topic, whereas vtubing, there is more frontload work, but once it's done, every video is just me talking to the camera with the model tracking my movements 🤔 but yeah I'm def new to this world for sure and can't wait to learn more about it!

I'll be honest, I've never recieved ANY degree, nor did I finish college. Just a GED and only had one year at a community College. At one point during the pandemic, I thought, "what if I could take it further?" And tried my best to push myself. I went on youtube, Newgrounds, twitter, etc. At the time, I worked retail during either the day or night, followed by me drawing or aninaring at home. Last year, I was UNJUSTLY fired from said job and have had trouble finding a job that would find me, "qualified" for employment. It was so bad, that I had to live back with my grandparents before all hell would break loose. I'm in medical debt with a closed bank account. So I tried to do what any desperate, starving artist would and open a kofi account, open commissions, followed by a somewhat viral, 6 minute long parody of Marvel vs. Capcom (which was made with no sleep and hand pain). As it helped me reach a thousand extra subscribers and followers on YT and NG, I however did not get any donations. Finally, I recently made the stupid move to spent MORE restless days and nights, risking carpal tunnel to post a new animated skit, featuring original characters (it'son my chabnel, but I doubt you'd like it), that has still lacked a load of views, follows and support. The holidays are a few days away, IRS is still on me, and I feel like a total squatter in the house I'm in, and I hate it. Because of KZbin's poor algorithm and low ragings on NG, I've been given the reality check that no one really cares about the stuff I put out there, and dreams are just dreams for most people. They only become a reality for some out of pure luck or money. So I've decided to throw in the towel with it all. What ever happens in the future for me happens idk. If someone wants to implement AI in my work, I won't even do anything about it. I mean I don't even know who really looks at my stuff. Lesson is for whoever's reading this, DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AS ME. Lower your expectations and focus on something else for your future. Mine's done.
