We sadly missed the chance to be in the parade, but it looked amazing 😄. Those who don't know many mexicans existed in the states because the border crossed them! They were here before. Plus, as an American, this country was founded on people from different countries ! All of us were never from here to begin with only the native Americans! Mexico gained independence in 1821. And the southwest pre USA was Mexico until president Polk incited a war over California Gold rush to make it apart of the USA.. that's the only reason why the southwest became annexed. Greed jus like all the wars in the Iraq and Afghanistan... It was to take over their oil and opium fields.. 9/11 was a pretext to "justify" their war crimes just like Polk during the Mexican American war, just like Andrew Jackson with the trail of tears..

Im pretty sure mexican independence was being celebrated in california before the 4th of july. Its just a part of California's heritage. I dont expect it to be celebrated in other parts of the states that dont have a mexican history. The ancestors of mexicans (indians & spaniards) have a long history here.

@@foxthorne Im also from this state. And i understand the cultural and historical significance this day has on our state and in former mexican lands that are now a part of the US. To ignore that is blatant ignorance. Now i dont expect it to be pushed in schools nor any condescending "hispanic heritage" month as celebrations. But if the cities in California want to have a parade or celebration for mexican independence im not for it nor against it. The same way i wouldn't be against a cajun or creole celebration in Louisiana nor against any celebration that honors its french past. And likewise i wouldnt be against a St Patrick's day parade especially in parts of the the country where irish historically settled and have communities like in boston or new york. In this part of the country mexican history and US American history intertwine. Im from San Diego this city is literally the foundation of california long before it was a part of the US. And im a proud American and proud of our history here and proud of our post mexican history too.
