Thank you for the helpful information. I am Mexican born but Naturalized USA (duel citizen) living in USA. Do I need to have a Mexican address on INE card to buy property in Mexico? Is there any benefit or other advantages from that then using my USA address? Thanks again! 🇲🇽🇺🇸

Hi @RegenHeart You do not need to have a Mexican address on your INE card to buy property in Mexico; whether it has a US or MX address, it will only serve as a means to prove your Mexican nationality. The only benefit from having a MX address on your INE (that comes to mind presently) is getting local discounts for yourself while in Mexico. Otherwise, you are entitled to all the other benefits of an INE mentioned in this video. I hope that helps!

I’ll be in Guadalajara in June and I have my dual citizenship. Sounds like it’s better to get the INE in Mexico due to the discounts. I was planning on doing this when I travel back to Guadalajara. How long will it take if I go to one of the government offices in Guadalajara for my INE card? Also my cousin told me I don’t need proof of address with my name just her being there with her own own form of residency in Guadalajara stating I live there with her. Do you know if this is true? My cousin had lives in Guadalajara all her life but I’m not sure how much of this is true.

Hi @rosachavez6394 The appointment is pretty easy to acquire and attend, and if you have all the proper paperwork, they usually file all your documents, take your photo and fingerprints then just ask you to return in about a week or so to retrieve your actual/physical INE card. As for the proof of address, I'll leave an official link below (also in the videos from the channel) about the requirements. The proof of address is usually in the form of a Utility Bill and does not need to be in your name at all. Your cousin is partially correct, however; so at minute 3:22 in the video, you'll see the drop down menu of acceptable proofs of address, and one of them being "two witnesses" You also have that option, but both witnesses will have to bring along their INEs to your appointment to attest that you live at your address if you don't have a utility bill to make use of. Hi Angie! Yes, you are able to obtain your INE outside of Mexico. You would just have to make an "INE" appointment at your local/preferred Mexican Consulate office. You will just need a proof of your local address, wherever you are in the world, and that address will be printed on your INE. Hope that helps!

Hi Ms. Torres. Yes. If you are a Mexican Citizen, you qualify to get an INE wherever you may be in the world. Just make an appointment at your preferred Mexican Consulate and bring in a proof of address [wherever you are] to your appointment; and that address will be printed on your INE card.
