There's a lot of similar flavors between Mexican cuisine and a lot of Southeast Asian cuisines. The lime, chili's, Cilantro, mangoes, etc. Imo it would be a low hanging fruit for fusion cuisine to combine them.

@ccroww white washed meaning light a cream looking yeah. Alot of thai restaurants in the states water down the curries and cater to a more white/non thai palate because they believe those groups of people can't handle the spice. It's kinda sad.

Y’all forgot to pair them with sticky rice, sticky rice for Thai and Laotian people is like tortillas for us. It pairs with every dish
@HolsteinDevil
@HolsteinDevil Жыл бұрын
For Laotians, I believe it’s mostly sticky rice. But for Thai, we go with jasmine rice most of the time. Some dishes go better with sticky rice so we pair them with it. Thai culture was actually influenced by so many neighboring countries’ cultures so we have a lot of shared cultures with SEA and East Asian countries. For example, there’s a lot of Chinese descents here so our most common sources of carb are rice and noodles. Some of my friends can eat noodles everyday. lmao Most of us stick to jasmine rice 2-3 meals a day though. 😊

Some of the dishes were missing their traditional accompaniments, or rather those dishes were the accompaniments meant to be eaten with rice to mellow out the spicy and other flavours. - "Tom Kha Kai" is typically eaten with Jasmine rice - "Laabs" are typically eaten with sticky rice - "Som Tam" also typically eaten with sticky rice

@robertoestrada20ot all Indians I’m Indian (well Indian-American), and I love beef! It’s only really Indians who are observant or very religious Hindus who don’t eat beef. My dad is Hindu and Indian, but he’s not very religious at all - and until he started having problems with his teeth (and thus difficulty chewing certain kinds of meat), he used to love beef too! Whereas, my mom is Indian and pretty religious Hindu and she’s been vegetarian since 1981 - and though she eats eggs, dairy, and honey, she doesn’t eat any other animal products like meat, poultry or seafood. Basically, Hinduism prohibits eating beef, but it depends on the individual person and their beliefs, and how religious and observant or not religious and observant they are!

Foreigners never believe me when I tell them how I’ve never seen any nation enjoy spiciness on a regular basis more than Thai people. They would say other countries have the types of pepper/chili that are spicier than Thai bird eyes. Well, we don’t just use a few when we cook though. We use at least a handful each dish. lmao When I was an exchange student I told everyone that I don’t like spicy food that much cause I don’t like being tortured. But when I had spicy food they were so confused cause I could handle spiciness better than most people. I had to tell them that I don’t like Thai level of spiciness but other countries’ level is fine for me. 😂

Eating Thai food tips... 1) usually in Thai culture, the main dish for each ones is a plate of RICE, other KABKHAO* are for sharing in a meal. 2) simply use SPOON and FORK together is the most efficient way of eating. spoon in your dominant hand. 3) fetch small amount of kabkhao to your rice dish for one or two gulp at a time. don't be hurry, don't do buffet vibe. 4) use fork to push a scoop of rice and stuffs into spoon for one gulp, then eat it. any strong tasty food will be mildly taste in your mouth. 5) in case of eating noodles, using chopstick is better, but spoon and fork pairs is still effective. *KABKHAO = foods for eat together with RICE Tom Kha Kai - kabkhao // salty and little sour light white soup with chicken and herbs, pepper spicy, strong lemongrass and coconut milk smell. Red Curry - kabkhao // salty and spicy curry look because of coconut milk, red color got from chilly mixed with other herbs paste. Laab Gai - kabkhao // salty and sour grounded chicken mixed with challots and roasted grind-rice grains. Som Tam - kabkhao / appetizer // sweet salty sour and spicy salad of green papaya mixed with long bean, peanuts, tomatoes, and dried shrimps. (actually there are plenty of som tam flavours/types in Thailand) Pad Thai - main dish // salty and little sweet & sour fried noodles in tamarind sauce, mixed with tofu, dried shrimps, bean sprouts, and peanuts. Mango Sticky Rice - dessert // coconut milk steamed sticky rice, pour a little salty coconut milk sauce on top, serves with sweet mangoes.

I LOVE "Tom Kha Kai"! The lady was right, this is very much a comfort food like chicken soup. On the Food Network show "Beat Bobby Flay" an excellent Thai chef did indeed beat him with such a soup made with lobster instead of chicken. I was drooling!

I’m glad you ladies like Thai food. My Mexican husband love getting homemade Thai food everyday too. Lol. He’s very spoiled now. We love doing combination of both culture in our house. Every Christmas I make him some green chicken tamales, pozole and strawberry short cake. on new year’s eve, we celebrate with hotpot.❤

Problem is majority of Thai food found abroad is nothing like the one we serve in Thailand. I don't understand the point of changing the recipes until almost unrecognizable. We had to adjust it to their taste, they say. But foreigners that come to Thailand love the original flavors...

You should do one where they try Filipino food. Filipino food has a heavy Spanish influence like Mexican food does, but uses very different ingredients. Suggested dishes: Sisig, sinigang, chicken or pork adobo, lumpia Shanghai, lechon kawali, tocino, crispy pata, kare-kare, and halo-halo for dessert. And no Filipino dish is complete without garlic fried rice with a runny fried egg on top.
