@@wetguavass Beans as a meall? Okay, yeah I've done that plenty. I don't think I've ever had something with chile [besides guacamole, which is more of a snack] without meat. And while I have eaten corn tortilla by itself just because it smelled nice that's more of an ingredient than a meal. The only meal I know has no meat is chile rellleno. But it's not vegan because of the egg batter and cheese. Please enlighten me on Mexican meals that are vegan because most of the things I can think of are lima beans, chickpeas, sometimes lentils if they choose to put no meat, guacamole, ensalada de nopales, and rehydrated soy meat [that sometimes gets nixed with fish for ceviche].

I love this and the authentic reactions of the Mamas 🥰👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨ About the jackfruit, it was probably prepared with canned jackfruit. I can’t stand the taste of the canned brine either. You have to boil the brine out before seasoning. But a lot of people, including my kids, don’t mind it. In my town there is a taco stand that makes jackfruit birria. It’s the second worst thing I’ve ever eaten (and that’s saying a lot because the vegan restaurants around here are fire 🔥). Wet, sour, soggy. Their Mexican rice was really bad too and I have so many Aunties from Mexico making THE BEST authentic food. Anyway just because someone is vegan and from Mexico doesn’t mean they can cook necessarily. But the 👋🏻 peepo love it 😂

When I went 3 months vegan for a challenge with my mom we did tried to make birria and other vegan substitute dishes We realized the flavor is pretty much in the seasonings! You just gotta find the right produce that emulates certain textures. Of course companies are gonna have the tools to replicate the best certain textures and flavors, but you can also make the best out of soy, jackfruit and tofu with delicious flavor in your everyday life by yourself. To this day we still make vegan dishes even though we’re not vegan because we just love the taste and the price 💗
