The culture of the Cowboy, has its origin, in the north of the territory of Mexico, it is necessary to mention that the historical fund is in Chihuahua, Mexico, where the first cowboys emerged, as well as the first original cowboy hats. Cowboy acquired his lifestyle, clothing and work, from the Mexican cowboys who lived in the territory of Texas, in those days, Texas was part of Mexico, before the annexation of the territory to the United States, the US-American Cowboy was born of work of the Mexican cowboys of northern Mexico, who taught it to the US-Americans, the historic US-American cowboy of the late nineteenth century emerged from the cowboy traditions of northern Mexico and became a figure of special importance and legend of US-American Folklore becoming a cultural icon. Although the US-Americans do not admit it out of pride, the cowboy emerged with Mexican origins.

My family has raised cattle my whole life. My grandmothers first gift to each of her grandchildren was their own horse. We were raised with our horse. So our bond to each of our horses was extremely tight. My horse Pojo was the best. He lived till almost my 27 birthday. My family always respected the Mexican ways and knew it was how American cowboys learned the ways of ranching.

Cowboy👢🐴 Culture has its origin in the north of Mexico 🇲🇽 The precursors of the US-American Cowboy were the Mexicans who raised cattle in the area of present-day Texas, when it was Mexican territory, before the annexation to the United States, their lifestyle and work were inherited from the Mexicans who lived in the current territory Texan. California also had skilled men on horseback, according to Richard Henry Dana who wrote a book about that region in 1840 when it still belonged to Mexico. As described: When they make long journeys, they ride one horse until they get tired and grab another, pass over the support and the bridle and, after running out of the animal, take a third and so on until the end of the journey. There are no better riders like Mexicans in the world.

I get it, I’m Mexican. It’s cruel to animals and not very keen on the eyes of animal rights activist. But to criticize it as if white rodeos weren’t equally as bad is to single out and ostracize and already marginalized community. I think charrerias are a beautiful part of the Mexican identity, especially if you’re from zacatecas like my family. As long as PBR is a thing I don’t see why this sport should be singled out...

People who can be cruel to animals in their culture find it easier to be cruel to people, too. It is terrible for children to have witness actions like this. Look I think the culture of it is beautiful. These people have a rich history of using these things in hard times to catch animals when working ranches etc. It started a time of need for things like this.I do not support American style “rodeo” but I feel this could still be celebrated without injuring the animals. I think the celebration of it shouldn’t go anywhere but i feel new practice could be put in place to where animal lovers would not be as put off by the events and learn about the culture and where it came from. Example manganas instead of making the horse trip just rope the front legs and drop the rope. And for the steer tailing just wrap the tail around it’s leg. You can celebrate something in modern times with modern mindsets that doesn’t harm the animals but still shows skill set required by the original charros.
