I was born in Cuba. I grew up in Burbank, Ca. I’ve walked in six continents. I lived in Guadalajara 2003-2005 and in Mexico City 2005-2007. I retired at 55. If I didn’t have children, I’d be in Mexico. It’s the only place I’ve lived where we would go out and have fun Monday thru Friday, instead of waiting for the weekend. Never had a problem with crime.

Hi Jose, Happy Sunday, Well I'm also moving back to Mexico in 5 more years, I'm retiring soon,I've been to the US since the early 70's. I bought a little land and built my own dream house in Monterrey N.L.That's where I was born, I didn't invest anything in the US because I knew I was coming back, my entire family moved back in the mid 2000s so my siblings and I are still living in the USA, were taking care of paper work getting our duel citizenship and selling everything, we are done with US, hopefully everything goes smoothly well. Hubby and I plan to leave to Mexico because we both are done with the way things are here. We also want our kids to be raised differently from here. Drugs and school violence is the one thing that makes it unsafe for us. Everyday we get emails of guns being found on kids and men inside the girls bathroom. We live in the most expensive safe area of town. Planning in 2 years like some people here comment to move back to hubby hometown in Veracruz. But mainly we want to come back “home”. We are home sick. I miss visiting my cousins and tíos y tias during festivities in Mexico. We want to live a life. It’s all work and no play here in the states. Your video is amazing. Thank you and continue to make these videos.

I’ve found out that I can have the best of both worlds, I bought two houses by the beach in Mazatlan sin mexico, and got in to the rental business, l spend 3 to 5 months in mexico working to make improvements to the houses and enjoying life down in mexico with all my relatives there,while making some rent money , and after that I take a month vacation traveling to Europe. and the rest here in Connecticut usa, working around my house, repairing whatever breaks and landscaping, life in the USA is not exciting, only when I get together with my ex coworkers and go for lunch or dinner with them. While in the states I often get invited to freelance 2 to 3 times a month and make a little more money for the bank. And so I am totally reconnected in to mexico with my family,politic, taxes, business. ,life in mexico has been good, much better than expected. But like you said it’s not for everyone. You have to respect the culture and follow the rules just like in the states, but in Mexican version 😊😊 be opened minded and patient. Don’t brag about how you were making tons of money in usa, because they will tell you to go back to usa pronto. 😂😂😂

I think it's funny as a typical gringo to sit in a room full of Mexicans and we go back and forth..I ask them what they like and miss about the United States and they ask me what I don't like and enjoy about Mexico as someone who has lived in Northern Mexico for a few years. One reoccurring thing, no matter where the Mexican lived, NY,CA,AZ, WA, WI,GA, you name the state, the first thing or second thing that Mexicans will bring up is organization and the costs associated with it!! In Spanish, American culture is described as" pagos,pagos, pagos, pagos" which sarcastic translation means, payments, payments for anything and everything! Car insurance, health insurance, tax on gas, tax on stuff you buy, internet, rent, vehicle, maintenance, clothes, washing clothes!! Going out to eat!! All payments that exist in Mexico also just in the US you notice it more. Buying, registration, insurance, maintenance and gas on a car, more complicated and expensive in the US.. internet!!! My Internet is way faster in Mexico and straight forward!! @$390 pesos per month.. same service, slightly slower in the United States was $69 a month,had to rent the router, taxes and fees closer to,@$80 bucks a month. Insurance..@$5000 peso deductible car insurance for our 2024 Chevrolet is @$630 bucks a year in Mexico!! License plate for my car @$1000 pesos, for my motorcycle, $600 pesos in the states car was @$250 a year for registration and insurance was @$130 a month no tickets, motorcycle $90 a year for tags and @$47 month for full coverage.. American beef, chicken, pork and cheese are cheaper in Mexico than in United States!! Propane. @30 cheaper in Mexico, it's imported from US or Malaysia.. Probably a big eye opener. Mexico has some red tape, that's for sure!! But to build a factory in most of Mexico, small scale, 12-18 months..in the US you can't get through permits and regulations in a year before you start.. and in lots of Asian countries, super fast, China you can finish a factory up and running in the time you are dealing w government and laws in the US.. other economies are eating our lunch,

As e Mexican living in Mexico I'll give you a piece of advice.. Just be aware of the fact that Mexico es infested with violence through out, some people are seeking asylum from Guatemala South of the border, cartels rule Mexico and control the government, if you travel by car make sure not to do it at night, if you get pulled over at a "check points" do as they say, if is the police they might just want money, or they might be just criminals disguised as policemen..if you are a dark skin mexican and don't speak Spanish you are an easy target for extortion...I sincerely don't want to deter anyone from moving to Mexico just do your own diligence, don't pay to much attention to a random guy on KZbin., If you decide to take on that adventure I surely wish you the best.
@JoseArteagaTravels3 ай бұрын
I totally agree! Not only should people not listen to people on youtube they shouldn't listen to random comments on videos either. Meaning grandparents birth certificates, marriage certificates and proof of birth to your mom and dad and then your parents paperwork and then yours. It can be done but its not easy. I have talked about it more on my channel in other videos on the topic. Either way congratulations and good luck!

Retired white guy here. I’m leaving Northern Maine in 2 weeks driving to Mexico for the winter. Spent last winter there. I’m all Gringo! Don’t speak Spanish, no Mexican heritage. I’ll only get the tourist visa, so can only stay 6 months. Here’s my question? If Trump was to get elected and starts his mass deportations that he keeps running his mouth about. It only seems to reason, the Mexicans would become resentful towards gringos. I’d like to hear opinions.

Thats the same thing he said in 2016, there os just no way to enforce such thing, most undocumented people live in big cities where the police has their hands full, cops have no time to go after illegals, as a mexican tho, id like for him to win the election and actually stop the whole asylum thing, that is not only bad for the US but for Mexico as well, as we’ve all learned them venezuelans are actually bad for the most part, coming from a comunist country they are actually used to get everything given to them and dont like to work

I don’t think that you can get citizenship unless your first parent were born in Mexico, I don’t think it goes back to a grandparent.
@JoseArteagaTravels3 ай бұрын
You can get it as far back as from a grandparent all you need to do is prove lineage all the way back. I have talked about it more in depth on the channel and have gone over the process with other Mexicans who have done it. It is not easy going that far back but it can be done if that is the only way.

That's appropriation. It is lack of respect for every country in the American Continent, to call the US, America, and to call its citizens, Americans as nationality. We are 35 American countries in the American Continent. America is a Continent, not a country. American, is a Continental identity, not a nationality. In the US or Cuba, you can call them whatever you want. But when in Rome, do as Romans do 🤷♂️

Thank you! 🥰 When in Europe, if you say you are an “American”, they usually ask, “And you are from which ‘American’ country?” I loved hearing that when traveling abroad! I was born in the USA, but the arrogance of some of my country’s citizens is most embarrassing. 🤦🏼♀️

@luyzqint3760 Thanks for bringing this topic up. It's very confusing!! I am living in México. Mexicanos call those of us from the USA, Americanos, aka Americans. We are also deemed from the United States of America. So what verbiage can we use as not to offend? Additionally, Gringo is for white people not of Latino descent. That includes a whole lot of people in several countries in the Americas. Therefore, those from the USA are not the only Gringos. Please help, because I am trying to be mindful in every way. Peace to all!!
@davidsebastianelli13263 ай бұрын
If you want to get picky, South America is considered a separate continent that comprises 12 countries. This is because they are geographically separate continental masses. Just saying....
@luyzqint37603 ай бұрын
@@cwisaac22 Usually the Mexicans that call US citizens, Americans, are from border towns, they cater to US citizens living in Mexico, or they are influenced by Hollywood. Most Mexicas refer to US citizens, as estadounidense, or gringos - there's no insult intent-.✌️

Hola Jose. Saludos desde Tejas. I like the points that you make. I am educated and still struggling. I am starting to believe the American dream is dying. I joked to my wife the other month that we should move to Mexico. Every day that passes, that joke is becoming less funny. I would feel totally at home in Mexico as I am Guamanian. Chamorro (Guam) culture inherited much Mexican influence via the Spanish. Plus, I already know how to speak some Spanish!

Jose, I watched a few of your videos, and I'd like to give you some personal feedback. 1) videos that last 2 hours are worthless to me. I watch KZbin when driving, and my attention span is pretty much maxed out at 25 to 35 minutes. That's the ideal length of a video. 2) you seem to cater mostly to viewers who barely scrape by, and that's a good niche to have. But know that there are also plenty of gringos out there who are better off. My wife (62) and I (66) will retire coming spring to Mexico. After we sold our overpriced California home and everything else, we'll have well north of $1M+ in the bank, plus we both will start collecting SS retirement benefits. I have 3 EU passports, so I really have plenty of options on where to retire, yet we chose Mexico for multiple reasons. Widen your horizon and thus your viewer base, Amigo!
@JoseArteagaTravels3 ай бұрын
I know they might be worthless to you but they are invaluable to many others. I make my videos for a huge audience who tune in for different reasons. Most people watch the longer videos in more than one sitting and others watch multiple long videos in one sitting. I also have videos on my channel catering to a higher income demographic. I don't really focus on income and more so on character. We have tons of high income friends out here same as low income friends and everyone in between. When it comes to my videos I am mostly showing people life in Mexico from my point of view and that is not one that comes from a high end luxury life, but instead a more simple life. Not that I am against it, it's just not the life I have lived so it is hard for me to make content for that demographic when I have never been truly part of it. Either way I totally understand where you are coming from and welcome any criticism. Thank you so much for sharing with us much appreciated!

I have Mexican ancestry. Ancestry DNA shows 6%, and My Heritage DNA shows 12%. My father's father's mother's father's mother came from Mexico, and her husband came from Spain. One year I contacted the church in the coastal Texas town where my great-grandmother was born and grew up in; at one point a flood destroyed all the records. I've considered Mexico and Brazil, but I'm going to go with Paraguay, Bolivia, or Peru instead. Maybe a country in Eastern Europe. I spent some time in Colombia. Some locals were asking me if I had relatives there. I do because of relatively recent Spanish ancestry. My Spanish immigrant ancestry came to the USA, but he had relatives who went to other Spanish-speaking countries, including Colombia. I've also been to Panama. The countries that are very popular with Americans tend to get more expensive over time, including Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and Brazil. I've been to all these countries. Mexico would be good as it's close to the USA and they have a lot of things we have, both good and bad. Texas is becoming a lot more expensive because it's a popular state to relocate to. At any rate, most of the countries you can go to are going to have a lower cost of living compared to the USA.

I was born in Guadalajara. I lived in the US forever. Upon realizing the United States is sadly not the same country I once knew, I started considering moving “back to the motherland.” A lot of folks who have lived in the United States most of their lives, are very hesitant to do this (it’s like living your own country). I finally made up my mind a couple years ago, and moved back to Mexico. What can I say. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like “moving back.” It feels more like just moving to a new country again. But ultimately, I’m glad I left the US. Yes, I miss it (terribly) sometimes. You can’t just leave a place you have lived in for many years, and not miss it. But whenever I feel sad, I realize I was tired of all the “flaws.” I was tired of the so terrible medical system they had. I was so tired of dealing with stereotypes that did not even apply to me. I was so tired of my life being controlled by the clock. I was just so tired of dealing with the mentality (and the self entitlement) of people. I was tired of a lot of things. So, I don’t wonder why many folks (both American born citizens, and immigrants) decide to leave. All the same. I discovered this channel while still living in the US (and I remember commenting here then). Thanks for this video. Keep up the good work.

If they're that poor, then they really can't afford to live in the USA anymore either. It's tough. Years ago I gave up all the extras, even cable TV, just to save up money. Some are having to give up on a place to rent because even that's too expensive nowadays.
