I am a native New Yorker, very appreciative of capitol cities, and Mexico City is one of my favorites in the world. I have regularly visited it over the past 40 years. The museums! The food! The avenues! We didn’t stay there during our recent two month Mexico travels, opting for colonial cities we’ve never seen before. But…we will return! Do enjoy!

Mexico City is one of my favorite places anywhere. I was just there again in July and stayed in Buenavista this time after having stayed in Condesa & Roma Norte previously. It definitely helped keep lodging expenses down and there's a huge mall with everything you could want nearby. Another neighborhood to check out is Coyacan with the Frida Kahlo and Trotsky musuems. Hey dudes. Please stop advertising the "cheapness" of Mexico City. It's only cheap for people who have money. I've been living here six years and I have watched the rent go up 200 percent. Roma and Condesa are through the roof and it is effecting prices throughout the city because now everyone wants a piece of the pie. This country is for Mexicans and not for Americans to come down and reap the benefits of their dollar while totally ignoring the people who were born and raised there. These rentals everyone are overpaying for are displacing families and making it harder and harder for people to actually live in most areas because of the shortage of apartments. Stay in a hotel. You are going to be eating out most of the time anyway. I know people are going to come at me with all kinds of nonsense, and I don't care. You can live in here and still be respectful and responsible. It's not your country.
