Actually my friend and I lived in La Purisima 41 years ago for about 8-9 months. We absolutely loved the people in this village! It was much smaller with no gas stations (the gas station in the video was closed up) and not as built up. We were volunteers and helped build the building next to the Catholic Church. At the time we only had electricity for a few hours a week. No running water or refrigeration. Could only communicate outside of the town via telegraph. No phones and mail once a month. We actually climbed up El Pilot and spent the night sleeping on top of it. It was extremely challenging to climb and was a bit scary! I turned 21 years old when I lived there. Lots of great memories! Thank you for your video!

I have traveled in theses kind of road, but it was before you and Caro were borned.. Was on my trip from Montreal to Acapulco, and on my return I saw a little road from Puerto Angel to Oaxaca, only 95 miles... Not recommanded on the my cards but I told myself and my wife.. A piece of cake... No, the road you have experience was 10 times better... 16 hours to do mine with huge rocks in the middle and no way to pass by... But I must say that it has been incredible scenery.. And wonderfull trip back to Montreal... 10 000 miles in 33 days... 🍷

Wow! Mexico has so much to offer no wonder you kept on going back. The country has everything from gorgeous beaches, clear to Gatorade waters, epic falls, sand dunes, green and desert mountains, salt production, herb rituals, food and culture etc. you name it, Mexico has it. Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful country to us. I like Carol’s dress from color to print. It suits her and the landscape you were exploring. Chris, your hair is getting longer. Great locks you have and the golden brown color just matches the desert. Great combination you two😉 You are both so brave in wondering off beaten paths and it seems that safety is not an issue for you even in Mexico. Now driving with no clear path and direction, no other cars passing by on the dirt road! 7:27 looks like The Monument Valley. 9:15 probably dates? What a great landscape and oasis you’ve been. It looks refreshing to kayak in that river after a hike. You could have wore a gringo hat while inspecting the cactuses and herds of cows and goats😆 Looking forward to your last upload of Mexico. Your Mexico videos gave me so many ideas where to visit next. Will be my 3rd one God willing following your recommendations. Thank you both!

La Purisima & its Sister town San Isidro are 2 of Baja's hidden gems. I can't recall the name of the prominent Butte you pointed out in the video but it can be climbed without too much difficulty & there is a large Cross on top. If you continue on the road toward the ocean you'll encounter a paved road just outside town that will run into a paved road to San Juanico (nice town & bay) or go left to Cd. Insurgentes. I am 80 now but when i first passed thru in the early "70's it was all dirt but people were most helpful to a young Gringo with a flat tire from the road you came in on. Old Mision La Purisima ruins are worth a look and it costs nothing. Good luck to you both. BJ
@bajajoes13 жыл бұрын
I did not see the CROSS on top of the Butte "PINON" but I swear to you it was there when I last visited.
@bajajoes13 жыл бұрын
The story I got back in the '70's was the Cross was placed on the summit by friends of a climber who made it to the top but lost his life descending.

@@JumpingPlaces The part you saw in the Gulf of Mexico was Holbox Island, very close to where it ends in Cabo Catoche (north of Cancun) on Mexico's ATLANTIC coast. THAT Mexican part of the Gulf of Mexico coast begins at the Brownsville, TX border with Matamoros, Tamaulipas. But thank you for exploring a good part of the Gulf of CALIFORNIA's western shores on Mexico's PACIFIC coast, which is the same as the Baja Peninsula's "east coast." It has been a good trip from Tulum to Oaxaca, then to Baja California and all the wonderful places in between. The people have been friendly and nice as they always are and some of the places you stayed were comfortable and really nice. The food has always looked good but sorry you had such a bad time with food poisoning from dirty or undercooked foods. We are glad that you had shown so much and just loved the oasis areas since I never knew in my youth ever existed. Now I know and it would be nice to visit a few of them in the winter time when it is not so hot. Thank you Chris and Carol for showing us another side to Mexico. God bless and we look forward to what is to come. Peace my friends.
