Thank you so much for your non-cliché non-trend following way of presenting travel! You talk about thinks you observe that are personally interesting to you, which is so rare. Please make more videos!

Some things. The main underground street in Guanajuato was a canal, but many of the tunnels you were in were explicitly built to handle traffic. Only the main street under the city was used for water distribution. Translating "Bufa" as if it were a Spanish word is weird, and I don't think is correct. The word likely doesn't come from Spanish. There is a different (and more famous) Cerro de la Bufa in Zacatecas, and it is similar in look to the one in Guanajuato. Wikipedia states that one of the possible origins is from a word in Aragonese. I have no idea of the origin of the name, but I'm quite sure we wouldn't name a hill "Snort". Finally, Guanajuato has very heavy traffic at least for a city of its size, and when you live there, it can be awful. Living there is a very different experience from just visiting since most of the touristic things to do are within walking distance or downtown, but that is not always the case with school and work. Just imagine having to walk up 150 stairs in the alleys with your groceries.

Thanks for the local insights!

(Btw, my amusement was mostly with snort being the best suggestion that Google could give me. I had some suspicion it was not the proper translation ;)

I started watching your videos last night and I’m glad you enjoyed Mexico! Guanajuato is the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited, and that was also my first solo vacation a few years ago! You did a great job showcasing how beautiful it is. Since traveling solo I’ve been to Europe a few times, and Guanajuato still holds up as the most beautiful (so far)! I’ve been to Germany, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and Spain. Next year going to Belgium, France, Netherlands, & UK, also back to Spain! I’m actually going to San Miguel de Allende & Querétaro next week. I’m starting my two week annual trip this Friday! Gonna go party with my cousins in Zacatecas then heading off to explore those cities after. It’s crazy, I thought you were German at first.. but you’re Dutch right? You mentioned Berlin in one of your videos, but I could tell you weren’t German. Berlin is awesome! I’ve talked too much. Have a great day! Lol

Hey, glad you're enjoying these videos! I am indeed Dutch :) I only had a stopover in Germany on a previous trip. Hope you'll have a great time... I loved Queretero when I was there. Greetings from Chacahua in Mexico (video forthcoming...)

It is beautiful but, the traffic is still very loud and smells like diesel when I walk to town, because it’s so concentrated and the buildings are tall I found Queretaro centro to be much more quiet, peaceful, clean, and beautiful

Why do you call Don Quijote "Don Quishot"? Quijote is [key-HO-tey].
@indietraveller Жыл бұрын
Yeah I used the English pronunciation (or possibly how we say it in my native Dutch). I usually go for Spanish but I forgot in this case!

Are you kidding, those tunnels look like death traps...as a female pedestrian, plus solo traveler , I would never go there.
@indietraveller Жыл бұрын
The pedestrian ones are mostly short and in very public areas. The long ones are more meant to drive through. But understand the concern :)
@CrossroadsWellness13 Жыл бұрын
Women who live here-myself included- walk the tunnels all the time. it’s often necessary for those who work in one part of the city and live in another. They are very safe and well it at night time.

don't worry, Guanajuato isn't Philadelphia, Memphis, Baltimore, or Atlanta
