@@kinetickennons Yes you can! you have an amazing view on top of the volcano too, ideal for droneshots. If you do go don't forget to visit the ruins of San Juan Parangaricutiro, the town got engulfed in lava and today only the ruins of the church are visible, it's all burried in obsidian, they alone are worth the visit in my opinion, it's quite surreal.

Seeing Sonny, the dog, started me thinking of this long "rant" about a place three hours north of Zirahuen. It was near Corralejo, GTO last year, where a dog named Tamarindo would follow me through town making sure I didn't get into trouble. My friends family live in the small unmarked community of El Rancho just a few kms north of the old Hacienda Corralejo of Miguel Hidalgo. There is statue of Hidalgo in the middle of the highway between Abasolo and Penjamo. Senor Hidalgo was described to me as the "Mexican Luther King". The hacienda is now used as offices for Tequilaria Corralejo. One of the few good tequilarias not in Jalisco. Gorgeous views of the Sierra Penjamo with lots of cultivation including agave and garbanzos. It reminds me of an area around Wingate, Texas, south of Abilene, where cotton fields used to encompass a persons entire view.

Now you only have left Quiroga, known for its carnitas, Uruapan for its bread, coffee, Avodaco plantations, macadamia nut candies and liquor, the National Park and Tzararacua Waterfall. Camecuaro for its crystalline lake and the place known for its atole and tamales of different flavors and one of the most beautiful churches, Los Conejos. Michoacan always calls and welcomes you back! If I had my choice of place to live and retire it would be somewhere in Michoacan.

I"m so happy you made it there!! Yes, very small and tranquil place. Up next, of course, if you have time. Drive to Uruapan (the avocado mecca of the world) and visit the Barranca del Cupatitzio National Park which is basically a park with a natural spring. You will see a display of water art....trust me you will love it. Go to Volcan de Paricutin. I went to the town of Angahuan and drive down to the parking lot of Paricutin. There you can pay a few pesos and go on horseback thru the pine trees. Once you arrive you get off your horse and walk toward the old church of Paricutin which was destroyed when the volcano erupted and lava poured through the old town back in the 40's. The people back then were displaced and had to relocate to a nearby town which is now called San Juan Nuevo I think. There is still parts of the old church still exposed, but most of it still covered in old dried up lava. Look it up to see if you want to go there.
@MarthaHernandez-er2px6 жыл бұрын
