The Maldives of Mexico: Our First Day in Bacalar! 🇲🇽

Welcome to the most beautiful place in Mexico...Bacalar! Bacalar is a pueblo magico situated in the state of Quintana Roo just north of the Belize border. What makes Bacalar so magical is Lake Bacalar or the Lagoon of 7 Colors. It is called the Lagoon of 7 Colors not because there are 7 different colors, but rather because there are 7 (at least!) different shades of blue represented in the water! What makes Bacalar so special is the white sand at the bottom of the lake and the fact that the water is freshwater fed from the underground rivers that run throughout the state of Quintana Roo and Yucatán!
What to do in Bacalar:
In today's video we visited THREE different FREE access points to the lake. They are located on Avenida 1 and Calle 18, Calle 16, and Calle 14.

Tambien San Frnacisco, Nayarit, Mexico--on the pacific side..It is gorgeous too--In a different way--It is near Sayulita & punta Mita---The main airport is in Pto. Vallarta, then you drive north on 200 for ~ 45 minutes and you get to the beautiful fishing town of San Pancho/ San Francisco , Nayarit. :)

Si tratas de buscar un lugar en este mundo que sea lo más parecido al paraíso, ese lugar es la Laguna de Bacalar. Cuando vayas me dirás si estoy exagerando. Y sí, esta Laguna es Mexico.

Cecilia Ortiz soy de Guadalajara pero trabajé 1 año en Mérida y visité muchos cenotes y zonas arqueológicas. He regresado varías veces y sí, Bacalar me parece el lugar más bello de la Ribera Maya. Es agua dulce y en realidad son 7 cenotes juntos que dependiendo de la profundidad (70-90 M) te da un color diferente pero en las orillas y hasta alejándote no es hondo. Te recomiendo hospedaje por Airbnb, más económico y aún hasta el borde de la laguna. Lo mejor es volar a Chetumal (un taxi a Bacalar, no del Aeropuerto sino caminando 1 cuadra, te lleva a Bacalar por 300 pesos). Espero lo visites.

Hi guys! I am from Guadalajara, lived and worked for a year in Mérida (visited many cenotes and archaeological sites) and felt in love with the Maya Peninsula that I was thinking of staying and live there. I just want to tell you that I have returned many times and I agree with you: Bacalar is the most beautiful place in the Ribera Maya. I don’t know if anyone told you that is not a lagoon and the name 7 colores comes from 7 cenotes together some 70-90 meters deep.

If you liked Bacalar, you need to go to Mahahual and Punta Allen, you will love them... the second place, Putna Allen is near Tulum but the road is not pavmented and you NEED to rent a car... no taxis.

Great video. Would it be possible to show more of the town, shopping especially? Watching you eat is great but we can't taste it so its hard to really experience the town just going to restaurants.
