Jeff moved to Playa Del Carmen in 2019. But his move took him about 5 years of research and planning. Here's his advice on how to save time, save money, and move to Mexico the right way
Jeff is still #workingfromhome in Mexico, and is semi #retiredinmexico
Although he works only a few hours a week instead of his usual 18 hr days back in New Jersey
In this video, he shares his journey #movingtomexico. What his monthly expenses are. How he makes friends. Things to do in Playa del Carmen. Whether or not he feels safe #livinginmexico. And why he never plans to move back to the United States.

My wife and I moved to Morelia, Michoacan a year and a half ago. It's been the best decision we could have made. My wife is Mexican. The lifestyle is relaxing, and the people are wonderful. We've seen no criminal activity. The cost of living is very affordable. I think we've scored BIG!

My husband and I moved from the US to Campeche this year. We could not be happier. The people are so kind and family oriented. It is tranquil here and we feel extremely safe. It took some hard work and commitment to get our residency and buy our home but I would do it all over again. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about it.

Thank you, Jeff (and Mariana!). I truly enjoyed listening to your words of wisdom, and I thank you for sharing your insider knowledge. I have done a lot of research about relocating to Mexico (I love the Yucatan, but will probably end up in Central Mexico). You put things into a realistic perspective (ex: do your research). You and Q-Roo Paul, among a few other expats are down-to-earth, share what you know, and have assimilated into Mexican culture in a way that I'm sure the locals appreciate (meaning: you don't operate from a place of privilege and you respect the culture you are now a part of). These videos are great but no one ever talks about the financial aspect. In other words, do you keep your bank account in the States to have all your salary/ investment/pension/SS, etc., deposited? Do you then just do a bank transfer every month for what you need in Mexico? I assume you have to pay U.S. income taxes as normal every year? Do you have to pay a Mexican income tax?

I am Mexican by birth, American naturalized, I will apply for his Mx residency status. The plan is to rent initially, if we sell our home in So California, then we will buy, otherwise renting our current townhouse can cover both the USA mortgage and Mazatlan rental. Lastly, I am torn between SMA, Querétaro and Mazatlan and most likely will experience the three before hunkering down. Thanks so much for your video -

Enjoy it while you can. Mexicans are going to get tired of all these Americans changing their country! I hear it from family that lived and worked all their lives in Mexico and are very educated have amazing lives and they are starting to complain of all these Americans taking over and the poor in Mexico are the most affected. Remember it’s not your country if you are not doing anything positive for the country and not giving back.come back to América .

I think the people who complain are always going to find something to complain about. Instead of seeing progress. I would also love to live in a downtown area of San Francisco- but just because I can’t afford it does it mean I am angry that others can. In fact, I see this all as progress and opportunity for the locals to be able to get out of poverty. New business and new markets are good It’s very short sighted when people are angry about new markets and immigration. In my humble opinion I’ve seen how many locals benefit from the influx of foreigners. And the country is changing for the better. Are you saying Mexicans don’t deserve a better life too? Because I am a local and I love that changes are coming
