The feuding between FOBs (newcomers fr the Philippines) and Bacons/Flips (American/Canadian- born) was so real in the 90s and 2000s - not really sure what it's like now. But back then, if you're a FOB, you get bullied by the Bacons - you would be made fun of or teased on your accent and your looks, and also looked down on your financial status, by the more established and seasoned Filipino immigrants. But this attitude from the "Bacons" was sometimes to no fault of their own, but for the fact that there was a lack of effort/ lack of interest from their parents to instill/pass on the Filipino heritage to the NA-born Filipinos. So I'm happy to see the narrative being changed into a more positive light with the exposure of artists like EzMil, as they are pivotal in breaking this barrier.✨️☝️

I don’t even know what a bacon is and haven’t googled it, obviously but getting to the subject of bullying fobs, not all of us fil ams (not even most of us) joked / teased fobs from a bully / suplada standpoint. Most of the time we’re actually friends with them. From my experience or my point of view as a fil am, I joked and teased certain ph natives who carried themselves a certain way and there are certain ph natives that I never even brought up fob joke to. Keep in mind that most of us fil ams are raised by “fobs” as well and we learned this fob teasing from them. Ask y’all selves this… how many times have you heard other fkn fobs talk so much shit when pacquiao was being interviewed? I bet that 9 out of 10 times it’s an actual native ph talking all this shit. I dont even want to get to the part that so many ph natives turned their backs on pacquiao for certain things he said or did regarding politics etc. Heck I’ve even witnessed ph natives actively wishing his downfall during his last fight. They were actually cheering his loss. It’s fkn crazy I burn up inside til this day thinking about these ungrateful people. This fkn crab mentality came from a lot of ph natives. Sorry if I sound angry but this is what I experienced as a fil am. I’m a fil am but being raised by crab family made me feel so little growing up in America.

Filipinos in the Ph have "Regionalistic" mindset. If you are not from my area, we make things better here. Same if you are from other countries, you are not from here, you don't know anything about us. Questions like where your Loyalty and allegiance really lie. But one thing is for sure, we are all Pinoys and loved the motherland. And as strange as it is we all say Proud to be Filipino. I would say do your thing as best as you could and represent your race as proud as you can and everything will fall into its rightful place eventually.

Im Filipino American, but from Olongapo and went back and lived out there for 5 years 2010-2015 compared to many places in The Philippines. Olongapo is very Unique. Very small town with big city heart and ambitions Lots of Talented people there. If you ever go Just go to Remy field at night cool place to meet people.

Chavacano in Zamboanga. In Iloilo more spanish structures but the words we speak as ilonggo especially the KARAY, A dialect is likely more of Portuguese in some words and the tonality.
