Meyrin is unbelievably farsighted. She can see anything from a mile away, which is why she doesn't need a scope. But she's blind to anything right in front of her face, hence the glasses. I think she needs new ones, which is one of the reasons she's so clumsy, but she doesn't want to get rid of them cuz they were a gift from Ciel.

Anime stuff got some details from Yana, but they brought no quality to it. It's much better for Danny to either wait for season 6-7 in like 10 years or read manga after this, than watch badly animated fillers that butcher the actual source material.

@@9GodslayerWell, yes, only part of season 1 is cannon, after all. Only like 1/2 of season 1 is cannon and then it skips to this, then Murder, then Cruise Liner. The only cannon take-aways from Season 1 are the Starting arc, Jack-the Ripper arc, and Agni and Soma... The Curry Arc was like a "comedy arc" between the Jack the Ripper arc and Circus. Phantomhive Murder arc (or, as I call it the "Clue Arc" is the same but for the Cruse Liner as Indian Butler Arc was for the Circus arc. Cause it goes pretty hard once the antagonist gets revealed.

Fun fact: In the manga of Kuroshitsuji, we actually don't get the servants' backstories until almost 150ish chapters in. Episode 21 from Season 1 are just very watered down versions of their real ones. Yana probably just wrote down the ideas she had for the servants and the anime team fleshed it out in their own way. Each servant gets their own arc to flesh them out and talk about their backstories in the manga.

Oh, just you wait until they finally animate Ciel backstory about that perdiod of his life, if they have the guts to do it someday. You'll see how dark this series can be. I may be misremembering but in the manga, I think he didn't had his legs anymore when he was informed of Ciel's sacrifice. It marked me back then. As for Ciel's lack of reaction at first, I call post traumatic syndrome disorder. This is the most twisted thing that ever happened to him. He may have been troubled a little to see it again, and it shows on his face ^^ As for the flash back...I still can't believe I didn't pieced the pieces together before the big reveal. It seems so obvious now ! I would advise you to look at this scene again, because it seems you missed a major thing there x) And don't worry, it won't get explained in that season ^^ As for our 3 idiots, the way I see it, their abilities came from a very dark place of their past, that has only be touched upon recently in the manga. Basically, Ciel offered them a more peaceful life at his house, playing the clumsy crew on subject they don't master, while putting their strengh to his side when needed. Knowing how broken Ciel truly is, and it will become more apparent as the story gets animated (hopefully, I want my werewolf arc so badly !) and how cruel Sebastian truly is.

I feel so dumb when the flashback of young Ciel comes in and the people who know know what I mean. I couldn´t wait for Danny seeing them protecting the house, I love this reaction. I think this is my fav Black Butler reaction yet. I really love this anime and its one of my first ones, I wish Danny just to enjoy it a little bit more. Meyrin is so far-sighted she can snipe a mouse at a mile away, but is legitimately blind in close quarters. The glasses, believe it or not, actually improve her close up vision. She hasn't been faking blindness, she's just still pretty blind with the glasses. Yes, the sevants are employed purely to defend the manor when Sebastien can't. the 25:24 other jobs are just their official jobs that Sebastien and ciel, for some reason, make them do, even when no ones around to see them doing jack shit.

I'm 21 now but when I watched Black Butter for the first time I was barely 14 and this was terrifying to me. genuinely terrifying. after the filler season Kuroshitsuji II, which was disgusting, Book of Circus made me realize this should be an horror anime. I passed to the manga after the movies and it's good, but should be advertised as horror.

@MicukoFelton He had contracts, but it seems like Ciel is the first time he had one that was long-term and required him to actually fit in. Sebastian didn't understand humans very well when he first started, but he got used to it after being with Ciel for several years. That's why it was a theory, because it doesn't seem like he had needed a human form for very long before so he just chose the one that would make his job easiest(His master's most loved one).

This is canon time in the series we actually learn servants aren't just comedic relief, but were hired for specific reason. This is why you shouldn't have watched fillers from season 1. 6:50 It's 1890s and Ciel is the owner of that specific candy company - he probably knows which candy has the least amount of asbestos - I will believe him on that. Something only really revealed lately - such good touch from the author to push the animation studio to include spoilers for something that's gonna happen for like few more arcs. 18:00 I mean I was the one of people who said its a cool mystery/crime/supernatural series in Victorian times. This was expected to happen. Especially after Red Butler arc. 23:00 She has major crush on Sebastian - that's what happened. Meyrin’s glasses have an extremely out of date prescription- and she loves them in spite of that. I’m not going to spoil anything heavy, just know that she doesn’t wang to give up this particular pair of glasses because they were a gift from Ceil. It’s heavily implied by Meyrin early on that Ceil changed her life for the better.
