Real quick, betrothed means engaged, not married. It was very common for noble houses in that era to pair up children while they were very young, sometimes even before they were born, with the one betrothed to the child changing depending on the gender, as this was pre-ultrasound.

Very. This antedated feudalism, where it was necessary to wait a bit longer before assigning your children future life partners to maximize the potential for thusly creating feuds. (Scarily, I'm not joking - feudalism actually depended on the feud as a social unit for unfortunate yet practical reasons.) At least by this point the goal really was to try to keep the nobility in harmony.

Love that your reacting to this! Since you enjoy this and black butler, I would highly recommend two other anime: First is vanitas no carte aka the case study of vanitas (watch in sub, the jp voice acting is amazing) it's an anime about a human who cures vampires who've had their true names corrupted. His friend is a vampire who is very much a golden retriever women respecting himbo. Everyone is neurodivergent and bisexual coded, the female characters are girlboss asf, and the canon relationships are great, and the dynamic between the two main male leads is very nicely written (and has plenty of angst) Moriarty the patriot is based on sherlock holmes, except moriarty is the main character and he's a lord of crime and you get to watch him commit crimes and murder the corrupt upper class to fix society, meanwhile sherlock holmes is trying to figure out who the lord of crime is (lots or romantic tension between them, it's pretty much a borderline enemies to lovers fanfic) Both these series have the mystery solving/older european/gothic vibes. They also are popular with bsd and black butler fans. I think you'd love both of these shows Danny!

Also is anyone going to tell him that Yana Toboso, the same person who made Disney’s Anime Gacha Game Twisted Wonderland, started out with Black Butler aka Kuroshitsuji, or that a lot of the characters he’s about to see probably has an Anime Disney Boi counterpart? Just me then?

Okay, but Danny's Cane explanation would have been so interesting to see cause Ceil finds Elizabeth annoying and a hindrance. He treats Elizabeth very poorly when she's always so kind to him, so to have Sebastian hand him a cane to beat her with would have made him question his actions. Kinda wish we saw it now.

4:15 Oh no - I "hate" how this show literally has all the details in the broad daylight for the plotlines that haven't even been revealed in the manga. I love when mangakas plan stuff like this for so long, because I totally missed this when I originally watched this, but it totally make sense with some later arcs. I can't wait for this plotline to be revealed. 5:45 She is Ciel Phantomhive's Fiancé and a cousin. I believe her mother is sister of his father or a cousin... Still very close family unfortunately - but you know, Victorian times I guess. 9:35 And I am so ready for you to see the later episodes and the reveals about their relationship and Sebastian's intentions. 11:15 Tbh, death was in fashion back then. As Victoria was mourning her husband for decades - the obsession about funerals, death and ghost seanses became a thing. This could in fact just be a fitting accessory and not just a sign of him working inside British criminal underground. 12:10 I genuinely love Jack the Reaper arc so much. It's such impactful introduction to the whole series and it's so beautiful as well. And it also touches on storylines and aspects that I don't think you would probably ever get, if this series was written by a man. 14:35 I haven't been this hyped to see someone's reaction to the plot reveal, like ever. Oh this will be so nice, when the show will exceed any of your expectations.

17:30 I believe Ciel's hatred of seasons has to do with the specific "social season" a common practice in Victorian England where after a lady was formally introduced to society (aka the look my daughter is old enough to marry ceremony), many of the nobles and rich people (gentry) go to their 2nd+ homes in the country and do charity events, find spouses etc (and if you read bodice rippers it's where people freakin go at it). For ciel, not having parents and being betrothed already, I would probably find it very boring as well, unless I liked dancing

Danny’s reaction to that scene is sending me. I was laughing so hard bc that was everyone's reaction when we saw that scene for the first time.

idk if you already know this but most of the first season and all of the second season aren’t canon. like it goes in to a completely different storyline and doesn’t fit in with the rest of the eps at all. specifically: canon: - s1 ep 1-6 - s1 ep 13-16 - all of s3 (book of circus) - 2 long episodes (book of murder) - the movie (book of atlantic) not canon: - s1 ep 7-11 - s1 ep 17-24 - all of s2

@neptune8317 Жыл бұрын
@@hailsatan6678 it just never happened in the canon story. it introduces angela who becomes a more important figure in the non canon episodes that make no sense. plus there was that whole doll arc

@@Friendlyteddy5 yeah, and then it cut to book of circus without any explanation for the previous episodes. it’s also unfortunate that that one of those episodes contains a major spoiler for book of atlantic (the undertaker one)
@wenyuezhang835710 ай бұрын
@@hailsatan6678 When they first adapted the manga to anime (s1&s2), the manga had only reached somewhere in the middle of the circus arc. There's not enough content since it's still rather early in serialization, and their wild solution is to simply make weird things up to stretch it into a season's length. S2 is just an untasteful sequel that they hope could grab the fanbase's attention. Thus, s1&S2 can only be taken as official parodies, or I'd say wrong attempts trying to outsmart the manga. It's been an industrial problem in Japan that they pay little respect to the original work. After an unfaithful adaptation, it usually spoils how the public feels about the original work (and for that, last year, a manga artist killed herself for the TV spin-off writer was bullying her and twisting her original work). The following seasons are faithful to the canon since the manga had more content, and the author became much more famous over the years of serialization.
