Mezco Darkseid One:12 Collective DC Action Figure Review

I didn't know what to think when Mezco solicited their One:12 Collective DC Darkseid. I knew it looked amazing, but $180? Polystone? Diecast? Thankfully in-hand the figure is pretty amazing. I still get a little nervous but I can't tell you if that's the materials or the price...

My first Mezco purchase was the Classic Iron Man and that is one of the greatest figures I own. It's near perfect. I also got the classic Wolverine and love that too. I really want this Darkseid, but that price point is just too steep for me. I need to start showing some sort of self control.

While I don’t appreciate or justify Mezco’s business tactics when it comes to certain figures in the one:12 line, I disagree that they released their remaining good figure in the form of popeye. I’m personally more excited about all the figures coming up. Not because it means I have more plastic on my shelves, it’s just because with Mezco being praised and getting a lot of attention it means they’d get a little more experimental and up the quality. But does that I want the to up the price? Hell no. I live in Australia and our average Mezco price is about $115 (due to our shitty currency exchange) so this darkseid is basically a hot toy in terms of price.

I say about the 300 mark no joke, are the figures great most of the time? Definitely. Does the figures justify those prices? Mostly. But does this figure justify for us the 300 price point? I wish I was more of a Supe fan so I could justify grabbing this dude! I’m not a fan of what Mezco has been doing with the articulation (single jointed elbows are not cool at this price point) but it makes sense with this guy being polystone. The One:12 line is my favourite I’m collecting though!

Oh, I’m so tempted. Looking at him with those DCUC figures he looks fantastic. For Darkseid I don’t need a lot of articulation. Hell he’s got got double the articulation than all the figures from my childhood. I’m good with him and I never articulate my mezcos all that much. Just too afraid of tearing their costumes.

Well I consider the size of the figure and the materials. My armoured batman that I think had metal and light up eyes which cost I think $110. Then I think about the recent hulk and he was about $125. Now he should have been 90-110. I think the figure as it is 130 would have been an good price point. For 180 they should have done better with the articulation.

This review saved me $180, thank you! Great comparison shots with other figures, especially at 11:11 with the collect & connect Darkseid, which I own. Unless the price should drop substantially at some point definite pass.

Not a Darkseid expert but proportions look a little strange as legs appear too short for rest of body (idk, maybe it's the high leg armour...or not) & that is one huge head. Disappointing the eye beams only partially light up. Feels like maybe a $20 premium (> than reg. release price) rather than $100 IMO. Nice review, thanks.

Looks great. I don't know DC that well, so it's a pass from me. But! My Popeye turned up yesterday, my first Mezco, and it's amazing! I'm giddy in the same way I was when I opened up my first SHF battle droid! Mezco rocks and I'm sooo glad I've got Punisher, Joker (crown Prince) and Daredevil on order too!

Well it certainly looks like a quality figure. But I just can't get over his proportions. I think it would've looked a lot better if he had the DC Universe Classics's proportions. That, combined with Mezco's attention to detail would've made this figure more of a win, even with the limited articulation. But as it stands (and with that kind of price), I'm just shaking my head: "nope!"

I really like how the orange looks like actual fire. Kinda disappointed if it's red in hand. Better artic definitely would've helped but my main criticism remains the use of polystone. It feels like they missed their market. Still, damn nice looking action figure. (Yes it's an action figure, just not a super articulated one).

Man this is a beautiful figure, but, the articulation is a real disappointment, where I live prices tend to double for most imports, this I expect the price to be no less than 300 dollars, could be 180 dollar good, but 300? I definitely do not think so. Great review as always robo!

Mezco you can't cost this much of the articulation isn't up to par. If $20 can give proper ankles, double joint knees and double jointed elbows yall should have no problem. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE MADE FIGURES WITH DOUBLE JOINTS BEFORE

@@craigoneill8277 not when you put clothes over the figures. Plenty of companies can incorporate articulation without ruining the sculpt WITHOUT clothes. Mezco could make super articulated bodies but they don't and it boggles my mind.

I love the light up eyes and "chase" omega beams... but that's it. The figure looks goofy, not even as large as the Mattel C&C. No regrets not buying this. Not much from Mezco I really regret actually - I was clued in to the intial Dark Knight offering but then the price was announced - hell no, at $75. The only set I'm impressed with is the Black Bolt set - ordered two. Would have liked Conan but I can live without it. Mezco is the Hot Toys of six inches - initially overpriced (first Hot Toys offering was General Rommel for $80 when every other 12" war figure topped out at $40....) and just goes up and up. Premium pricing for suckers.

If your tight on money I wouldn’t suggest collecting hot toys or mezco, unless your fine with very slowly building your collection because they’re much more expensive per 1 figure. Especially if you want to buy the more rare figures there resell values can go through the roof
