I so nearly bought this , but glad I didn't, the pictures on the MEZCO website show a quite different castle, you're right the table is missing and that platform thing looks like it's supposed to be supported by the stairs, if you put the stairs on the second level, the columns are different as are the windows etc etc. However it has inspired me to build my own from plywood to fit my NECA Universal monsters, albeit quite a bit bigger

That’s because Mezco isn’t a company it’s a group of criminals. They misrepresent and false advertise almost all of their products. The amount of photoshopping they do to make their items look better is unbelievable and I’m not sure how it’s even legal.

Nice video. The jars that come with The Mummy. Are known as canopic jars. Used to place organs in. After the mummification process. As far as scrolls. In the 1932 The Mummy movie. Boris Karloff's character. Uses what is known as The scroll of Thoth. He was going to use it to bring back his beloved. However, she had already been reincarnated. In real life. It was actually referred to as the book of Thoth. There is some debate as to whether or not it was a physical item? As no physical book has been found, as of yet.

Great review! Yes, had the exact same issues as you, including the missing table top. As another commenter also noted, the promotional pictures showed the columns alternating rather than running all the way up and down, leaving a lot more room for the figures and accessories AND the windows should’ve had images rather than be open. Overall was pretty disappointed with this set-hopefully they can improve with the Doc Nocturnal 5 Points.

Some years back mezco made a 4 or 5 monsters set which included a vampire, frankenstein, more of a zombie then a mummy and a werewolf...do you remember the name of it? It was quite like this one here and I believe it was a five point as well. Thanks!

on the under side of the table there appears to be two strips of double sided tape, im assuming that's how you are to connect the it to things

Very cool review! I think the idea of the cardboard playset harkens back to the days when Amsco made a Marvel cardboard city with flat cardboard figures from the 70s - remember that? Now it’s considered the holy grail and goes for thousands on the secondary market. So people don’t diss the cardboard tower cuz later down the road you’ll regret it! I’m picking a set up! These are awesome!

The wooden ledge that sticks out at the side of the castle, if you turn it over, has a white peel that you pull back and it's two-way tape. You use that to stick it onto the floor so that it's secured on the side of the castle.

I agree with you about being happy with it a current price. If times weren't hard then I would have easily bought this at current price and not care about its flaws, but times are a bit hard so I gotta be smarter with my money 😔

I really like these figures. I would have gotten it, and at a higher price, if the tower were made of plastic like some of the older Kenner playlets. Also, wouldn't mind some of these figures in the One12 Collective style.

Those are some cool figures, the Mummy's face looks like a cross between Imhotep and Eddie from the Iron maiden album Powerslave, those are canopic Jars, probably holding the mummy's internal organs, that set is rad as shit

Enjoyed your review but I had absolutely no problem putting this set together. The balcony has tape strips so it connects to the floor on the third floor. Don’t know how you missed that! Received an email from Mezco and they are going to make the table top available through the retailer the set was purchased from. Stay tuned.

thanks for coming by and checking out the video, yeah after I recorded it I went back and spotted the adhesive strips, personally though the idea of making something attach by tape isn't great though as it will tear up the cardboard if you ever decide to pack away the castle and not display it, shame they didn't use tabs or even magnets could have worked also

Yeah if they either make a better plastic castle, or release these stand alone for cheaper (just the 5 figures) -- Ill buy a set. But for 5 figures and a cardboard castle ill never use, $85+ is too steep. (Makes the figures $17 a piece). Maybe a new set they will make Gil-Man more green!?

I pre-ordered this and waited like 2 years to get it. I was very disappointed in the quality. It's made of cardboard! So are many of the accessories. For the price you would think it would be better. How is this supposed to hold up over time? I returned it and got my money back.

The right support column is too far back, with time, the top floor corner with start to droop , for those who plan to purchase this set will have to modify that part.

I guess they were trying to make playsets similar to ones from the 80s, unfortunately thought the downside is that collectors that were only really interested in the figures would have no interest in building this and having it out. Shame they couldn't have put a set of the figures out and then released the same ones with the Tower of Fear to give collectors a choice. Would you have bought them if it was just the figures sold on their own?

The Dracula is accurate to the book!!! He’s supposed to have the long mustache and later in the book has black hair after drinking lots of people’s blood in England. Nosferatu is the best portrayal from the book except no mustache. The count from the Munsters Rob Zombie film is accurate to have the mustache.

Honestly disappointed by the playset itself, I thought was stupid or something with not getting what they meant by the bed and the little platform to the side. Good to know just missing pieces and nothing to attach the thing too. The monsters though, fantastic, love the looks of them. If they were to make one:12 figures of them, I'd get them in a heartbeat. Would go great with the Dark Horse Direct Hellboy figures and Four Horsemen Figura Obscura figures I got
