I love how you made the controller so intuitive and analog ! Muscle memory is important for live performance....👍😁

My Mezzz arrived this weekend, and this video has been very helpful! I’m looking forward to seeing where this hardware and software goes in the future, and I want to integrate it with my Hypno… somehow!😉

As a random viewer to which this video got recommended: This is not a demo, this is a full on complete user guide! By skipping around I got that there's knobs with tons of state controlling 3D shapes. But I've no idea why or who should use this combo. It makes sense as a standard bluetooth midi controller though(although I'm worried about latency without a wire)

It could certainly be called a video user guide yes, demo is a pretty loose term. I didn't address user archetypes explicitly here and just opted to go the descriptive route. As a MIDI compliant controller Mezzz has a number of target users. Most directly its an easy to use visuals system for people starting out w/ video art, performers looking to make their set into an audio visual one or advanced video artists looking for expressive sources for an existing video setup. Its also quite useful for musicians, particularly ones who have limited space but large qty of parameters to control or are busy doing something else on stage like playing other instruments or engaging with the audience so they would benefit greatly from the wearable/wireless form factor. Note that since this controller is focused on CC the perceived latency threshold is more flexible than it would be for note triggers, but bt midi is made to do

"more unreleased hardware in the future" im listening..........this with vidOS seems so far out, dare i say it even more than hypno. thank you for your time in making these Ron and the sleepy team

Wonderful! Can I play music on my iPad, feed it thru AUM (for example) and use it to modulate some parameters in VidOS while using Mezz to manually control others? With love, Ken

is it going to be released for intel macs?
@SleepyCircuits9 ай бұрын
Desktop support is just a happy byproduct of mac catalyst at the moment. Intel macs would require shipping a whole new binary variant so I'm not sure... definitely planning to expand compatibility though so I will be looking into this in the upcoming months -Ron

can i hard wire the controller with a usb cable to do midi with other devices or is it always bluetooth only? sorry if this is easily answered somewhere, i looked around on your website and at other videos and i wasn't sure if this was possible or not... love the device either way!
@SleepyCircuits10 ай бұрын
Good question. At the moment its wireless only but I will add the USB MIDI wired backup the future, thing is that the wired MIDI blocks the debug console so some tools coding is still required, though tbh I hope people use it primarily wireless since thats kinda the point of this design w/ the gyroscope and side buttons for handheld use. Mezzz still charges just fine w the wire so you can keep it hooked into power in case of long term installation. U can also route the midi w an ipad/phone via AUM or something in the meantime.

@@SleepyCircuits thank you so much for your kind reply! i definitely plan on picking up a mezzz... i just discovered all your work and have watched all the youtube videos and read everything i can find online. hypno looks incredible as well, i need that too! the reason i ask about wired midi on the mezzz is that i'd like to use it for some scripts on my monome norns. and for various reasons i would need to have it wired to do that. but of course i am happy to wait and see if it gets implemented and in the mean time use the mezzz more how it was originally intended. also i had one other question i couldn't figure out- i see how hypno is audio reactive, but i didn't see anything about vidOS being audio reactive in some sort of specific way beyond just controlling it with mezzz and matching the visuals to what i hear...
@SleepyCircuits10 ай бұрын
@@jaygilliganThanks for checking it out :) Proper audio reactivity is still in the works and should eventually be even more streamlined than Hypno ( w/ onboard mics), I had test code for this but it became useless again for tech reasons (long story lol) If your Norns doesn't have bt abilities a widi bud would do the trick, SleepyBrian has both of these but we haven't tested yet
@SleepyCircuits9 ай бұрын
@@jaygilligan aside from your naturally audio reactive dancing that can be picked up from the IMU not yet, you could convert audio to a midi value with additional gear though which would be simillar to the techniques found in out Mother 32 demo. Definitely planning some audio/fft functionality with the builtin mics in upcoming updates though.
