Sounds right to me. It looks like these remote tuners have a DC block etc although the schematic doesn't show it. Same as on my MFJ962B. With my 962B they also supply a MFJ4117 bias T for the shack end of the setup. I don't know what they supply with your MFJ998RT. I assume an MFJ4117 too. They don't supply a schematic for the 4117. It is simple but why not supply it in the documentation

That's pretty slack. Yes, they did supply a bias T for the house end of the installation. A series DC block diode would be much better than a series crow bar diode. It just wouldn't work, there would be no excessive current pulled through the RF choke to burn it up. This is what I assumed happened, I don't 'know' this is their configuration.

I enjoy your videos very much and thank you. However I have one critique ! When you talk about other videos or reference other videos, you need to link them in the description...."73"....

I'm sure the HARGburger will be fine (well at least 90% confident as we haven't killed anyone yet). It's most likely a side effect of the sizzling technical conversations.

I think you're right. So far, so good.

Is it the same reading at the DC input socket? 73

Ian Whitford that so 29 is the dc input

oops typo that should have been SO239. The confuser thought otherwise.

No it has a separate DC input for those who would rather run a separate 12VDC cable.

Ian Whitford the one I had didn't have a separate dc input, perhaps it's been changed. mine had microcontroller issue and the shop I bought it from didn't offer a replacement just a refund.

Good question, thanks. I have just checked that and yes, it is.

2 suggestions if you don't mind. 1) Please use a tripod... when you were showing the computer screen it was very annoying and hard to read and follow. 2) You don't need your camera to pause the recording. Just upload the multiple videos and use the KZbin editor to put them back to back. Pretty simple really. Other than that I enjoyed the video. Hopefully they will get you a replacement with the least amount of BS!

Thanks for that. Maybe I'll try the You Tube editor, as for the tripod, it's not always easy to get it where I want it.
