I own the flipside too. Here again it's an perfect example that the OC is NOT more aggressive than the CC! I like how it shaves. Thanks for that nice relaxing video!

I did really like the end results, but I am still not sure about those ratings -- no way that razor is more mild than the standard Yaqi head, at least based on how it feels on the face. Let's see what Yaqi says!

@@mfreedberg Not sure how the standard head is, but that flipside has a lot of bladefeel. At least the CC has! Mild? Not really...maybe medium ... Bottom line is, very clean shave and no irritations! I would like it as a normal DE. One CC and one OC!

Hi Michael- Great shave and shaving product reviews; thank you! A nice, full range of shaving supplies and a razor. I’m very glad to hear that you have decided to stay the course in developing Jedi mental discipline to combat the effects of downward trickling water; I would have expected nothing less, my friend! (Insert lightsaber emoji here.) 🙂 I hope you are having a great week and best regards, as always, Michael!

The mind is powerful, but in both directions :-) My brother got there first with HIS Jedi mindtrick and I am still working on neutralizing his "attack". Thanks for watching, much appreciated as always!

I like the idea of the dual comb razor, and it did work well for me!

Nicely done and reviewed Michael💈💈 Captains Choice soap sample pressing loading bowl🤣 Whatever you have to tell yourself🙄 Strange the closed comb side is more aggressive than the open comb side of the Yaqi head🤔 The steering wheel is on the wrong side....razor😊 Oh well, as long as it works. Enjoy!

I am not sure those numbers on the site are really right, and I am following up with my contact at Yaqi for more details. Let's see what we get! That bowl is like a shaving wizard...

Real nice shave Michael. I gotta give the nod to Gentleman`s Nod. All three seemed quite good. Might have to pass on the razor. I`ve been leaning towards mild razors of late. Good job. Thank you.👍

The pre-shave is a nice to have, but not necessary (for me), but the shave soap and post shave serum are really very good. This time of year my skin needs all the help it can get, and this type of post shave treatment is spot on.

Great shave Michael. I'll be going with milder razors while my overly dry and super sensitive skin tries to heal up. The Aqua Velva sensitive skin balm is helping so I'll be applying that for a while.
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are also "over" moisturizing at night, with something that really covers and protects -- something with shea butter, for example, so that your skin can really soak in the goodness overnight. This time of year can be rough, I am having some similar issues combined with not-great blades. Hang in there!!

Great shave Michael. How would the Flip Side compare to the older standard Yaqi heads?
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
Ok, so this is a hard one. TO ME, this razor head is clearly more efficient than the standard head, with more pronounced blade feel. I got closer shaves with this razor head, but at a lower comfort level (not low, just lower). Per the numbers on the Australian Yaqi site, though, this head is rated as milder than the standard head! Furthermore, they have the open comb side rated as milder than the safety bar side! Not sure I agree with that.
@jojo-lb2og4 жыл бұрын
Michael you misread the specifications on the site, open comb is the milder and the closed is the more aggressive one. Nice addendum to your shave den. Cheers
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would appear I did misread the numbers -- the lower number is milder, but I have to tell you, I am not sure the numbers on the site are right for this razor. It did not feel AT ALL more mild or comfortable than the standard Yaqi head, and no way the open comb side is a "3"! Or maybe I am just crazy -- that is also quite possible.
@jojo-lb2og4 жыл бұрын
@@mfreedberg The actual numbers are totally different thing ;) I'm planing to order batch of the Yaqi heads, but not the dual-flip or whatever was the name of this head.

Hi, can you review the classic green Proraso soap?
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
I used it in the distant past, the one in the plastic tub (not the cream) and finished it. I don't remember liking it that much, but maybe it's time to try it again??
@masterman71664 жыл бұрын
I've never heard about that soap in tub, the cream also says "sapone di barba" so maybe it was the cream. Give it a try, it may surprise you in a good way.

I am v. much like you Michael, I like boar brushes and I have the very same Semogue O. Club (SOC) which I also like. But, but,..do you at all find (or feel) sometimes that this SOC is too floppy. Do you ever find yourself wishing sometimes that the knot had a bit more backbone. Make no mistake, SOC is made out of very fine boar hair, no ifs no buts. There is another Semogue Owners Club boar that has recently by released, I think called 'Taj'. It's looking exactly like your video's SOC (same fine boar hair), but the handle is a white resin (def. not wood) and more importantly the knot is not as tall and not as floppy as the SOC we all know from old. Almost like Semogue with Taj have tried to "rectify" the old SOC's floppiness. Some thoughts..
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
It is indeed a little less dense than I would normally like, but that is also part of the charm. It splays easily, offers a light and pleasant scrub, and still somehow never fails to pick up plenty of soap. Compared to my Rod Neep, it is too floppy, but that's a high bar to reach. I will have to take a look at this "Taj" brush, thanks for the pointer!

Great ingredients list this one, but I am sorry, my target for now is the Siero, probably the best soap base ever created in humanity.
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
Save your pennies, the Siero will not come cheap. Worth it, though, I think, as a high end purchase!

I looked up the balm on maggards; yikes, 25usd for 3oz (88ml) of balm is a bit more than I’m prepared to pay
@mfreedberg4 жыл бұрын
Yup, this too is expensive, but then again this container will go and go given how little you need. Very nice stuff, but also pricy!

I hate when water runs down my arm. I'm constantly drying my hands off so water doesn't run down my arm.
@rajeshsweet1944 жыл бұрын
I use a atomizer instead of splashing water with hands on a face. That solves that problem. And i dare say it hydrates the face better than splashing with hands.

I never hated it until my brother brought it to my attention, and then I could no longer ignore it!
