@sunrisejak27096 ай бұрын
The convertible top and surrounding gear are sourced directly from BMW as it's the same top as the Z4. As are the rollover hoops. Likely the window glass as well. In Thailand a BMW Z4 M40i is 4,600,000 million baht. The Cyberster 2,500,000 million baht. (about 75,000 USD at today's forex rate) I've placed an order and been lead to believe delivery could be end July. I drove it at the recent Bangkok Motorshow. It's impressive. I've got a Tesla model 3 dual motor in my garage so I'm no stranger to dual motor EVs. I'm a bit skeptical of the scissor doors as the sensors seem to ensure a fair amount of space is required being close to the car parked next to you. MG has a "summon" mode where the car can be moved forward and backward out of a space with the key fob but now I learn that feature won't be available in Thailand. Hmmm. 1000 preorders for Thailand. Not sure of the other markets. The Cyberster has been shipping to customers in China since end December 2023. The platform and underpinnings is closely related to the MG4 X Power that is dual motor with the same 77kwh battery but with more potent motors. It has some solid history (while short) but gets good reviews too. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Cyberster in my garage and if course out on the road.

So from another source (Swiss newspaper) it should have 480Km range on standardised car testing (so average). That seems legit for this battery size and car weight. Quote from their article (translated from German with Google translation): "There will be two versions of the MG Cyberster: the entry-level version with rear-wheel drive and 313 hp (230 kW) and the top model with all-wheel drive and a brute total output of 544 hp (400 kW). The two-seater fueled in this way should complete the sprint from zero to 100 km/h in around three seconds and probably reach a top speed of up to 210 km/h. The standard range should be a good 480 kilometers. The entry-level version is said to weigh around 1850 kilograms, the top variant then just scratches the two-ton mark at 1985 kilograms." The only thing I am really worried are those door and how they work in tight small European parkings, especially the underground one.

@@fritzmuller8246 I love gas cars too as I've had them my whole life. But with a specific Time Of Use meter my charging at night is peanuts. To drive my Tesla for 32,000km for 1 year is about 450 USD in energy cost. My C43 AMG was about 3,000 dollars for the same distance. But,,, if you can't charge from home stay with a gas car. I live in Thailand when traveling charge locations are all over the place. Works really well,,,, for me. Gas cars are now in the rear view mirror. It's all about the driving experience and convenience. (nothing in my decision criteria had anything to do with the climate change crap) it's just that electric propulsion done right in the right circumstances is truly awesome. Have you driven a dual motor electric with 544hp? And mountains of torque? The back of your head will have flat spots as it's pushed back onto the head restraint! 🤣 The brembo brakes will then throw your head forward with you eyes thinking they will leave the sockets. No need for a clunky gearbox or raucous gas motor. Maybe "Born to be Wild" blasting on the Bose stereo. 😊 👍 Should be fun while being composed and comfy. 👌
@jamesd74696 ай бұрын
@@sunrisejak2709 With 544hp, you have to break laws to have fun and risk safety of yourself and others unless you track. Miata just as much fun with less cost, less hp and feel like you're diving much faster than you are.
@sunrisejak27096 ай бұрын
@@jamesd7469Hi, actually it's the power delivery characteristics that are so impressive and it's not necessary to break the law to appreciate it. In fact with the torque provided by an EV it's possible to accelerate and build relevant speed without winding up the motor or waiting for gears to change. It is so effortless, quiet, and smooth that it's like being "beamed" forward as in Startrek. The sensation needs to be felt to be understood. An electric commuter train pulls out of the station with impressive power and builds speed without breaking the laws. My wife who drives like an "old lady" (she's not old!!!) 😊 loves driving the Tesla as the power on tap for small manouvers is fantastic. She never breaks the law but really appreciates the immediate "get up and go". Plus One Pedal Driving using torque and regen means almost never using the brake pedal but relying on the electric motor for both requirements. Generally when people drive an EV they are astonished at the power to move the car forward even if it's merging or lane changing etc. No need to break any laws. I had a Mini John Cooper Works so I'm familiar with small and go-kart like handling. But I'll never go back to a gas car. Anyway, I'm a certified "petrol head" (being from Detroit the "motor city back in the day),, 😁 but the propulsion provided by an electric motor is so effortless that no need to wind out a small gas motor or to overcome turbo lag to build speed or drop manual gears to do what you need. In fact a gas car builds power in a way that means the peak hp is way up the rev range. An electric motor offers near max torque at zero rpm. It just different. Anyway, I certainly get the attraction of a small nimble car and rowingthrough the gears. It's the active participation that's enjoyable. Enjoy the small Miata as it's pretty special. But don't think I'm ripping around breaking laws when it's just a different acceleration between the 2 drive trains.

All I’m saying is that there seemed to be plenty of room off to the side or behind and not directly in front of this incredible car. Just a suggestion. Your content was excellent. I love car reviews and watch multiple videos each week. I don’t mean to offend. If you watch Alex on Autos, Doug DeMuro, Savage Geese, Throttle House, Car & Driver, Hagerty, etc., it’s always about the car. They’ll stand behind, or to the side, sometimes kneel in front so as not to obstruct the viewers look at the car, especially if it’s a stationary concept or preproduction car that is not going to be driven for the review.
